when i poke around on youtube for videos of people playing TTRPGs i feel like someone digging through rock layers and finding evidence of the KT extinction event. once you hit the year Critical Role became popular videos go from featuring generic pudgy nerds to being filled with niggers and trannies and wannabe hollywood whores. CR attracted the worst kind of people to the table

Whenever I catch myself watching anything gaming related on youtube it makes me feel a little silly. Not all the time but there are countless hours of more worthwhile things uploaded to the internet, and here I am watching some fucking video about a guy playing a weird Dwarf Fortress map.

Actually I liked that specific one though, the setting is fairly compelling to imagine. Some type of blasted wasteland where it's constantly raining evil rain that turns anyone caught on the surface into zombies that attack anything in sight, and there are massive zombified titans wandering the wastes in the distance with unexplained dark tombs and monoliths littering the landscape, so the only way to survive is to live in a fortress underneath the surface and hope that anyone who shows up can make it to one of the gates before it either rains or they get attacked by the undead creatures roaming the surface.
I've never even played the game (having actual graphics does it a huge service, vs. the old version which was basically ASCII graphics) but I watched that whole stupid hour long video.

there are plenty of documented examples of lolcows wasting their entire lives gaming or gooning or gambling or being druggies or just being general menaces to society. spending some time here and there watching a video on a media meant to be entertainment doesn't seem like a big deal to be in the grand scheme of things. you can't be productive all the time. it's bad for you
