After signing in, I entered the day room and the doors closed behind me. When I saw what it was like, I knew I had made a grave error, but it was too late. The doors were locked.
I thought I would die or be killed in there. Something told me it would be better to die fighting the revolution in the streets than in a mental hospital. The nurse at the reception desk would not honor my request to release me. I grabbed a table lamp to use as a weapon to fight my way out.
Soon after, the men in the white coats were upon me.
An aide kindly sat with me while I swallowed a handful of different colored pills and drifted off to sleep. I knew it was my death.
When I awoke the next morning, what had died was my innocence.
