Have you ever known someone like Chris?

I've encountered several Autistic people In many a special Ed class (I myself being on the spectrum, kinda had to be in those classes). Most of them are pretty cool, if not without their quirks. But there's three in particular that I remember fondly. I'm not naming them for their own privacy.

The first one was a non-verbal one. Whenever he heard some loud noise, he'd plug up his ears until someone told him it was gone. Otherwise he was generally a good kid, kept to himself and drew movie-related stuff. Never really paid much attention to him otherwise.

The second one was a little unstable mentally. By that, I mean he thought that "Beyblades" actually unleashed monsters in real life. All I could do, was to go along with his BS without acting like a dick. This only lasted a month or so before he suddenly left for reasons I've never known about.

Then there was this third guy. Again, he's a half-decent guy. But he has some of the worst habits I've ever seen. One of which is to make these high-pitched noises that could easily rival Chris in the creepy department. He also kept scratching his face (the result of a skin condition, but still pretty rude), talking out in class and never would never shut up until he was told (and even then, he wouldn't listen).

I saw him a year ago while attending a course at my local community collage. His old habits never left him (though now he was into children's card games and their bad Anime adaptations). But if there's one thing he has over Chris, it's that he's actually done something with his life- joining Sea Cadets. That and he did know how to keep himself clean.

Beyond that, the other Autists I've encountered were pretty cool, if not slightly annoying.

autistic brother

oh my god you must have the patience of a saint to have to put up with all that. I take it he just can't be left unattended at all? I could never handle being in the same room with someone like that, sorry.

My brother lives in a group home. I try to visit every day if I can. He does okay unsupervised for watching TV but needs some guidance with other stuff. I watched him do his laundry and helped till the day he did it all without me having to tell him what to do next. I'm an ER nurse and having a brother like mine makes me better at dealing with whacked out stoners and pissed off drunks because I don't take their bullshit.

My little bro is honestly a sweet guy under all the behavior issues. I wind him up and piss him off because it's my job as a big sister and he knows to come to ME if somebody is causing him trouble. I get that junk sorted real quick. Sometimes things happen when he acts like a dick and I tell him "that's what you get" but if it's something he didn't start then I take care of it.

I've told him all about Chris and make him read the forum and the wiki. I told him over and over he better not get that pathetic.

My brother thinks Chris is stupid and "he is very bad and I don't want to get sad like that" is how he puts it.
