Careercow Hayden Black - Untalented comedian with a string of failures including the infamous Gen Zed; suspended from Twitter

I mean when you really think about it, Brock and Misty got replaced eventually in the later seasons. So literally the only characters that were in every season of the series are Ash, Pikachu and Team Rocket. So if anything Meowth counts as more of a main character than whoever the hell is following around Ash in whatever region their in.

Exactly, I was thinking exactly this. This is why I said they were more iconic. I suppose, though, that it doesn't matter because they're still not leads. I guess if Maddie or another trans person had voiced Brock or Misty, that would have been a "lead role", despite the fact they aren't really the leads after a certain point? ("Oh, but they were leads temporarily" - Team Rocket has had many, many TR-centric episodes and scenes, with an entire episode devoted to Meowth explaining his life. So TR were, too!)

Meowth also has one of the most memorable lines from Pokemon: The First Movie, which I posted about earlier in this thread. It's like saying Bender isn't an important character in Futurama.

I just thought of something. Notice the spokespeople for this show are just Black and Goldstein? No-one else involved (not Bradley, not the production team and certainly not any of the other VAs) has so far said a word.
Now consider that Black seems to find transgenderism a source of endless fascination. (Judging by the trans character in his "Goodnight Burbank" show, the long line of dreadful tranny jokes posed to Black's twitter - and of course, the constant harping re: FIRST EVAR TRANS VA PLAYING A LEAD AND NOT SUPPORTING TRANS CHARACTER WHILE SHITTING ALL OVER SUCH BASIC CONCEPTS AS TACT CIVILITY AND NOT ACTING LIKE A JUMPED UP LITTLE CUNT IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE EVAR...)
Also consider that Shona Whatshername is clearly physically based on Goldstein - and is, like Goldstein, an "aspiring comedian". And though I don't know who came up with the original designs for the show's characters, surely Black must have had final approval?

Based on the above, it would appear Black is somewhat...enamoured by trans people. And Goldstein in particular. Enough that I can't help but wonder just how Goldstein got the job as VA.
Were she and Black already friends? Surely not! I prefer to think Black gave her the role on the basis of her talent - and nothing more. ;)

Are you implying that trans people are to Hayden Black as lesbians are to Andrew Dobson? ;)

  • Three main subjects were trolls, trans issues and Caitlyn Jenner.
  • There is no variation between Julie's normal voice and the voice she uses for Shona, currently demonstrating no flexibility for future voice acting roles.
  • Hayden is as pleasant in real life as he is in his tweets.
  • Transvestite is an offensive term according to Julie. The correct term is crossdresser.
  • A bit of discussion about the definition of "genderfluid".
  • A lot of discussion over the origin of the word "faggot" as used towards homosexuals.
  • One of the hosts felt the need to apologise for saying something offensive in a previous broadcast since Julie was there.
  • Hayden still doesn't know whether the show will be on the web or on TV.
  • Hayden is bitching that we don't know what "lead character" means.
  • Gen Zed started out as a live action concept, but since Hayden wanted to experiment with more fantastical plot elements, he made it animated.
  • What sets Gen Zed apart from other shows like it is that it "has a lot of heart and a lot of heart-breaking moments", with an example being the intervention scene we saw in the promo. I can think of several shows in the same genre that have plenty of heart-breaking moments and a lot of heart, but I'm just ignorant cis scum.
  • Hayden actually did the "Pew pew!" response out loud. Idiot.

How wonderful a person Hayden must be then. Also, nice job compiling all I need to know to avoid this pile of shit. Makes me happy.

Is there a cultural context here that makes a difference? Because they mean literally the exact same thing just with different linguistic roots
Apparently self-identified crossdressers disavow the former term to avoid confusion with transgender people and fetishists. I guess Julie really wanted to make clear that she's not a simply dude in a dress, but I'm a little surprised that she seems to support people who are instead of calling them an affront to TRUE and HONEST trans people.

I'm not sure - has Black been caught trying to stick a bicycle hose up Goldstein's ass?

Cunt is a more appropriate term I think.

An insincere cunt, at that. ;)

Except she doesn't have one.

She's pre-op, is she? Bang goes my little joke, then! *sigh* Though if Black does turn out to bear more than the one similarity to Dobson...

It is appropriate in a way that it is either be the lead, the star, or bust. Supporting characters don't matter, secondary characters don't matter. To be the lead means it is all about you, because everyone else is but another NPC in your story.I am looking forward to the inevitable leaks on what it is like to work with her. She is burning her bridges.
