Might as well wait and see what happens. It sucks to see that some of the actors who were on the pilot aren't back for this.

Yeah it appears that Hazbin is now listed on the SAG-AFTRA site so this is almost certainly down to unions not wanting non-union plebs touching "their" projects, I'm sure some of these were because of time commitment issues but boy that will suck for both the guys being replaced and also the actors replacing them because I don't know how on earth you are going to replace Angel Dust's VA.

Once you get up to the big boy leagues, you have to deal with unions that make the Teamsters look like pussies. You either play by their rules or you get out of town.

Damn I expected that Ukijoe and Stamper wouldn't be back due to their constant spergouts but to hear that Kovak and co won't be doing it really sucks, I assume we also won't see mick return as Husk.

Kovach in particular bugs me with his absence. Seriously, this looks like an impending disaster. Yeah, great idea, throw away the very reason this show could have succeeded in the first place, commit suicide right out of the gate.

Yeah they always do recasting for shows compared to pilots usually to get new actors who fit whatever tone they have in mind fit better. Hazbin stands out more because of how it was an independent idea. Hope the new actors are actually good and not just some randos who happened to be in a union.

No, the show is being made by A24, which means it was bound to fall under SAG regulations sooner or later, which means the voice cast would end up being replaced. The was apparent from Day One brut everyone just pretended it wasn’t going to happen rather than accept it then.

According to kovach, two of the VAs being replaced are part of a union, and he was more than willing to go through the process in order to stay as Angel, so it’s likely more factors than just the union issues.

I don't know about anyone else but this whole situation so far reminds me of MGSV with how Kojima replaced David Hayter with Kiefer Sutherland without even asking the former. Although in that case at least Venom doesn't talk much so it matters a bit less. Angel Dust will be talking all the time in comparison so let's hope Vizie hopefully knows what she's doing.

It does seem like Viv's personal preferences were also a factor, at least assuming by the thread she retweeted. But union shit is incredibly complicated because MONEY is involved, so we can only assume what was going on behind the scenes. Lani Minella, depsite being union herself, has been calling out their and certain big ego's (*cough*Laura Bailey) bullshit for awhile. Because she's Lani fucking Minella!

While I'm sad about Angel, it's not a huge deal breaker for me tbh.

A real shame, not really a watcher of this particular group of shows. However I have had the benefit of meeting one or two of the recast va's and crew before all the lock down bullshit happened. VA's and the rest of the extended work team they let go really hit me like a genuinely alright group of people.

That being said Vivienne has always hit me as shall we say a greedy sort of person, and I don't necessarily mean money though with how much she charges for merch that applies as well.

She always seemed to be chasing more fame and prestige, catering to every community imaginable and sticking her nose in everyone's business to draw attention. It's not surprising to me she would pull something like this.

Why bother with lesser known unaffiliated voice actors when you can gun and get major Hollywood type beatdicks to voice? She can ride their coattails for even higher fame and renown.

At the end of the day it really does suck. I may not have been the biggest fan, but it was nice to see a at the time totally indie project do so well. It served as an example that random people on the internet could come together and make something actually not total crap.

Alas the shallowness of the shows creator should take the easy route of mainstream media money, and cast aside everyone who actually made her idea as popular as it became.

“Keep Spitballing LLC/Bento Box LLC”

Keep Spitballing has no information online about it animation wise. It’s a subsidiary for A24 most likely since this will be A24’s first animation production. (Also if it runs out of money into bankruptcy or gets into legal issues for some reason, it won’t affect A24) So HH has more pressure for it to be a success because this is a risk on the company.

Bento Box on the other hand did Bob’s Burgers that’s on Fox and other stuff like The Great North and Duncanville.



So I’m not sure if the show is gonna be buttery like the pilot. It might be significantly more tween animation and stiff ALA Bojack Horseman and Rick and Morty. Again not sure, just guessing since Bento is attached to this and they’re Fox night people focused on modern adult comedy.

It's more likely to air on a streaming service than a television network due to the general nature of the show. Like I could see Hazbin being put on Netflix or one of those [X]+ services

It’s a bit extreme to call the creator shallow and greedy over something that’s probably out of her control. As people have mentioned, this is pretty standard stuff for professional productions that usually involve unions and happens all the time in other shows.

And seriously dude, it’s just a handful of VAs, not everyone who helped with the pilot. Angel Dust was the only real loss anyways.

Devil’s advocate aside, I can imagine Viv would use this chance to cast a gay VA for Angel because she is the type who believes in “queer character, queer actor”.
