Well everyone, Vivzie has some news for us about part 2:

Hmm very interesting, I assume they have multi teams working on it and most of the team working on part 2 were moved to make sure that season 2 had some episodes built up so there wouldn't be gulfs. eh again I'm willing to wait considering they have one shot at each of these releases and I doubt they are going to want to do remasters of these down the line due to animation errors.

Honestly, I sympathize with some of the people who are annoyed. Viv and her team DID hype up episode 8 a ton and referred to it as part two of the season finale, and now she's come out and admitted it's actually just filler. The delay itself being the result of legal issues can't be helped, so be it, but Viv was certainly misleading in regards to the actual content of episode 8. They really should've addressed that earlier.

Well, we got a video of what literally happened.

A second video about it just came out today, too. Looks like the team got caught in a whole bunch of legal bureaucracy for Episode 8. Viv claims that the episode is not essential to the actual plot, but describes it as "important" nonetheless.

Honestly, I agree. While I certainly really like this show and respect what the team was able to accomplish, I can't help but wonder if this whole thing could have been avoided if they prioritized the actual continuation of the plot, rather than this so-called "musical and visual showcase." If the last installment of your online web series ends on a dramatic cliffhanger with two major characters at their own emotional crossroads, everyone's going to be really curious as to what's going to happen next. I know I still am, but after eight months of anticipation, waiting, and merchandise sales, we find out that the thing they've spent a lot of their time and budget on was something that won't advance the plot in the slightest. It's certainly irritating, to say the least.

Regardless, it's really crazy to see this stuff happen in real time. I'm sure they'll figure something out, but for their sake I hope they stay out of more trouble. But people were saying the same thing when Viv got briefly cancelled a year ago, so it's probably for the best if I just wait for the next installment, and brace myself for the crew's next faux pas.

She says that they got "blindsided" by the updates and that, although the episode was written as a bonus, it would still matter.

While it's misleading, I imagine that the show's fans would have still lapped it up if it released as part 2 on schedule. At the same time though, harassing them over a product that's being released for free is pretty fucking gay.
