You said it way better than I could, Pilot!Charlie was naive, but she at least knew when not to take shit and knew Alastor was shady as shit, but in the show she actually just seems kinda stupid and spineless, despite living in hell, where the only explanation for her behavior could be her dad being equally as lame and spineless, or her just literally never leaving wherever she actually lives until episode 1.

Vivz is great at designing the appearance of, and animating, very expressive characters. There's real talent with not just the animation but tapping into the timeless archetypes they seemed to represent. Because we all knew what they were supposed to do, we could fill in the gaps just by thinking about it. Inspiring that is not something you can really teach or learn, you just have it or you don't. Somehow, she has it, but because she can't be mentored, she wastes it.

She wastes it because her writing is abysmal, her ability to listen to criticism is even worse, and so without a good writer or otherwise anyone to tell her to stop making noob retard mistakes, the potential that everyone saw is teetering over the pit of enshittification. A setting that seemed to be about surviving being abandoned by god and surviving hell drew in a lot of people for a lot of reasons, but it's really just "zany random kewl setting!!! *holds up spork*" for an autist to animate her daydreams for other autists who will eat that shit the fuck up.

All that potential could well turn out to be for nothing. All that hope I felt for who seemed to be a hardworking kid with a moonshot passion project has waned into "oh she's really just a cunt with some talent and an ego as big as her fat face" as more facts came out. All the people I saw drawn to it when it was just a pilot because "I feel abandoned and like I'm in hell and that resonates with me" mostly noped out over the years from her drama, HB turning into shit, and the turbo autists and coomers driving the adults away.

It is not saying much at all to say I can out write Vivz, but I won't lie, I wish I could draw and animate half as good as her. If I could, I'd do a lot more with it than attack people telling me shit I needed to hear and walk on the backs of the people who put me where I got if I ever got remotly as far.

It all comes back to autism, and enabling it, doesn't it? lol.

Given that Charlie in the actual series is frankly dumb and sheltered, not just forgiving and hopeful, I now think Vivz is lampooning the concept of altruism and kind people, or merely setting up a buttmonkey for the 'bad guys' she so dearly loves.

If so this will be another example of something that I noticed is very common among fujoshi's. It is their idolization of evil male characters. Fujo's love male villains. They don't show the same reverence for female villains, only male villains. I think this has something to do with their fetish for the abusive relationship dynamics that they all love. A good and righteous male hero wouldn't ever engage in something as horrible as rape and sexual abuse but the male villain will which is what makes him so hot. Case in point, fujoshi's idolization of Jeffery Damer.

However, and I think you will know this better than anybody as you have been on this site longer then I have, is that female gooners do exist and a lot of them have a hard time separating fantasy from reality. Much like their male gooner counterparts. It is one thing to like steamy, hot and heavy content. It is another to glorify and justify sexual abuse and abusive relationship dynamic's. There is a reason why the Stinkditch subforum is getting filled with more and more fujoshi horror stories.

Similarly, shooting fictional cops in GTA won't land you in prison for the rest of your life. Because it's fiction and the audience is expected to know the difference between fiction and reality.

I highly doubt your average housewife into bodice rippers wants to actually be raped. Part of the appeal is specifically because it's fictional and not a real person really being raped.

Fun fact: there was a moral panic in the Victorian era over women reading novels. Moids insisted their delicate ladybrains wouldn't be able to tell the difference between fantasy and reality and would act out all the crazy shit they read about. It's sad how little shit has changed.

Depravity as a whole does take common specifically gendered forms, yes. An easy shorthand is to take what are commonly considered the positive qualities of the sexes and invert all of them to see what a fucked up man or a fucked up woman would, and often does, look like.

Jeez there really is a pattern here then. The same thing happened to Becky Sugar and Ian JQ. Ian left SU for his cartoon OK KO and his absence showed. Even OK KO was lacking something meaningful and couldn't gain the same traction as SU did. A kiwi in the SU thread put it best: SU doesn't give you a reason to come in, OK KO doesn't give you a reason to stay.

I predict that same pattern will be seen again once Rodgers leaves Vivzie behind.

Don't get me wrong. I am not knocking the show on it's subject matter. After all the setting is in hell. Hell should be a awful place where things that are reprehensible in the mortal world is common place there. As someone who likes D&D and whose favorite setting is the Nine Hells you are told that the Nine Hells is the worst place in existence, where living there makes you wish for an end to your existence and where devils will do any depraved act to damn and corrupt your soul to an eternity of torment. Those Tumblr snowflakes would cry in offense at The Book of Vile Darkness and Chains of Asmodeus supplements. It would have been easier for Viv just to tell her detractors; "The show takes place in hell for fucks sake. Grow up." However, she just keeps digging herself into a deeper hole which in turn lead to people finding out that she treats her animators like shit and finding out her closet full of fetishes. All of this could have been avoided if she had a tard wrangler.
