Since its been on my mind for a bit thinking about it again, I wanna talk about my thoughts on the subject. Hopefully not to derail other discussion going on right now.
Of all the biggest blunders Helluva has become, from Stolas basically robbing the show of its original premise, focusing on fag melodrama and other shit like that. The one thing that still bothers me the most is Striker; his portrayal in his debut episode was perfect, from the voice to appearance. He was a pretty badass character who left an impression, being skilled and confident; matching Blitzo and being able to take down Mox and Millie with ease. At least having thought about it more, he was basically a dark reflection of Blitz at the time; what he could have become if he went down that route. If they kept him with that portrayal, being mysterious and showing up now and then to fuck shit up would have been perfect. Being a constant reminder of what Blitz could become if he decided to go down the route of killing demon royalty. Then come Season 2, the enigmatic badass cowboy imp is reduced to an incompetent fool who can't do shit because everything that made him cool is gone. Not once, but twice does he get his ass kicked in humiliating ways; negating any threat he had established in Harvest Moon. Instead of being a cool recurring villain, he just became a second-rate goon who fails at his job rather than getting shit done. What a waste of a cool design and concept, just like the rest of the show has become.
I like cool dark edgy counterparts to main characters and I thought Striker could have been that, but when you have someone like Viv writing this shit, it once again goes back to my other post about how shipping and all that literally ruins everything. Going back to that, look at any piece of media where shipping became a main thing (voltron comes to mind, even through ive never watched it i know the horrors the shipping wars caused) and you'll start to see the side effects of it affect the entire thing. Striker is just one of those who got sidelined along with the original premise because "mah stolass and blitz fag ship".
If I had to best decribe Hazbin/Helluva in a few words; it would be "wasted potential".
