My response to this is "beat the case on the court" in reference to some basketball nigger who won a court case because he played B ball really well.

People don't give a shit about how something was made, they only care if its good. If Hazbin comes out badly, then people will harp on this.

Until then, its all hearsay from someone who i don't know or trust and therefore I don't care.

An ex-crew member of Helluva Boss has come out claiming that the treatment of her and the crew was so poor that she quit and has abandoned the animation industry entirely, saying that Vivzie is an “awful human being”.

archive: https://archive.md/EXneD

TL;DR:
- Spindlehorse was toxic
- Viv demanded unreasonably tight deadlines and generally treated them poorly if they were not a favorite, doesn’t care about their wellbeing or providing a healthy work environment
-expects the quality of a fully-fledged studio while providing none of the benefits or pay
-It was frowned upon to talk positively about other shows/indie projects or work for them
-Viv had the crew watch Villainous and shit on it
-Erin’s main catalyst for quitting was an incident with Viv’s second-in-command Sam Miller who was also abusive
-Viv allegedly threatens others to not hire her crew
- Speculates Viv dumps most of the budget on big-name voice talent, wanted Weird Al to voice Fizzaroli but was rejected
A lot of people seem to be saying "eh..." to this. A post on the subreddit seems to sum up the issues.

We all know how Twitter is reacting to this, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of reactions (yet) and there were some reasonable takes.

I was really looking forward to more lurid accusations, instead of just whining that work is hard.
I around normally agree, except for the (vague) assertion that Viv is apparently not compensating these people properly. Its one thing to demand excellence from your crew. It's another to demand that while 1) not allowing for the crew to reasonably do the work and 2) not paying them enough to make it worth it.

They should try working for anime. Or normal animation even. Of course they might have to move to the Philippines to get that kind of job these days.

The only accusation that would really be an actual sin of some sort is the blacklisting thing, and even then, I'd want to know EXACTLY what Viv said, in what context, and even what tone of voice.

I just don't view insisting on quality work from subordinates as at all problematic.

I want figures dropped. Like, how much was she paying them, how often, how many hours were worked in total, etc. It's problematic to act like you're a professional when you don't pay your people like professionals. Weird Al's agent knows that, as noted above.

As for the blacklisting, I do remember one of the people mentioned in the discussion being run off the internet, allegedly because of Vivzie. IDK if she abandoned animation like Erin Frost, but if they are no longer in the industry, I wish they would come out with a tell all and expose all of the nitty gritty details. They have nothing to lose.
So, unless they come out with more, I'm going to assume they either haven't totally given up on being in the industry, or they don't have a leg to stand on.

All this BS drama. Just make the damn thing or not. The world will not stop turning either way.

As for all the Vivienne is a monster, she hired and fired people, she wanted work in exchange for payment, she was mean and now I can't go online or go to work ever again, she ate my baby and I don't even have kids -type hysterics?
What power do these idiots think Vivzie has? She's an artist, active for a bout 10 years, known for about 3-4 things. Does she have some secret mafia ties or are people a bunch of whiny drama-llamas?

I’d imagine, if anything, she’s not a “fun” boss. She takes her work seriously and expects people to work very hard as well. Probably pushes a bit too hard and is a bit too invested in her characters, but I’m guessing that’s the gist of it.

That kind of shit exactly. Not just that, but how does it compare to normal industry standards, and more importantly, to the kind of stuff that is barely being made because it's nearly impossible to produce indie shit in this world. Anyone expecting to earn better than a Philippines in-betweener as an indie is probably delusional.

I know, the "you're doing it for the exposure" scam. But in this case, anyone remotely involved with either the pilot for HH or anyone related to HB has a feather in their cap.

And someone had to place butthurt above their own career.

Pure stupidity. Just swallow your regrets, move on, put it as a line on your resume because for the next couple decades anyone remotely connected to this project, even if it crashes and burns, probably have a good opening line at any job interview in animation.

Viv may be a bitch, too, I don't doubt that, but work needs to be done to get us our animu.

That I can agree with. It's over, and they could move along to the next (hopefully better paying job).

Shame it's not a terribly good animu.

>I distinctly remember Viv mentioning that is was supposedly utter hell to work with Dana Terrace on The Owl House
:story:
When VIVIENNE GODDAMN MEDRANO, even with all of HER faults, says you're "utter hell" to work with....bruh.
We've seen plenty of "dirt" on Viv, I would rather see some further dirt on Dana. I wonder what would happen between Viv, Sam and Erin but if anything suspicious or amusing is revealed about Dana that would be pretty hilarious. Back on Erin's accusations I'm still skeptical about them and I would like seeing further proof before making a final conclusion but if I have to give her credit, she's much more sane than the rest of the "hazbin critical" community that took too much viv derangement syndrome kool-aid.

A lot of people seem to be saying "eh..." to this. A post on the subreddit seems to sum up the issues.

I saw this Cash person a few times before. Always found it odd that despite being a marxist-leninist and hating liberals he is seemingly fine with Viv being liberal or at least liberal-adjacent. Other than that the takes shown here are pretty sane compared to the seething sea of retardation HH/HB drama produces as usual.

Right?! Like, if you didn't want to cancel her and make a big deal out of it, you wouldn't have called her "an awful human being", for one.
Remember when everybody on #ChangeTheChannel like that cunt Marzgurl kept starting their posts with "I really didn't want to talk about this," even though it was clear they were doing just that to get attention? Same story.

  • Tight deadlines are the norm for animation. Deal with it.
  • Viv has no power "to threaten" people not to hire her crew.
  • Most of the time, budgets do go toward acting talent.
  • "Terrified of her and her fans" ...lol Imagine being scared of the pronoun politburo on twitter. Nigga, twitter isn't fucking real.

I can tell you from experience, most people just drop out of animation because it's a really harsh industry. The only people in animation are kids and old people for a reason. Vivz is a sperg; her followers are the actual worst kinds of people to work with, but massive x to doubt these accusations. Her fans have no power in media, Just look at modern movie sales for confirmation - woke isn't trendy anymore.

I have my own issues with the animation industry - It is a high school mean girls club run by talentless faggots, the work is thankless and cheap, artistic expression doesn't exist, and I hope you aren't American or on the east coast. Still, there are ways around the bullshit. Get a passport and take your happy ass to France of Germany. Your mental health and wallet will thank me later.

Proof or shut the fuck up

I am tried of these tumblr faggots saying "totes real because anon said it guys," I believe that as much as I believe Mike Tyson is actually white.

Anyone can lie online and tumblr is extremely well known for crazy weridos doing just that and even being self aware about it.

If she threatened to blackmail you all then take screencaps and show everyone.
It wouldn't be that hard especially sense you're an EX employee and there would be tons of instances of it was so prevalent.

There shouldn't be more evidence out there of creepy weridos trying to fake being animators to get hired than this being a regular problem.

God I hate Tumblr

What does she mean with no deadlines were given? I'd want more details on that because with the limited info given here it sounds like they had flexible worktime. So the team could space out the workload to their own needs.
Or like, was no deadline communicated to them, but they were being hounded by the end of it to finnish it quickly?

I'm sorry but pulling just one all-nighter per during a creative gig sounds like a dream.

The OP not having had a lot of experience working in the creative field explains a lot actually. I feel sorry that they were hit like this but shit deadlines, shit pay and entirely unorganised teams are part of the job, sadly. It's deffinitely not a job for everyone, but the anger feels a bit missplaced just because it's not a problem just with this production but with every production. The studio animation folks are having (or trying to?) a movement for better benefits after all.

On the other side, with Vivzie having the stamina to run and develop two shows at once, I can see her thinking that obviously other people have the energy for it too.
BTW, didn't Vivzie have a twitter thread a while ago praising the shit out of Sam & Max? I think she watched it with her crew too?
