Gonna sperg a bit because it's been bugging me forever and I need to get it out of my system.

Vivz cannot draw faces. She's been at it for years and has never shaken her chronic same-face syndrome. Anime is horrendous for this, but it's anime so whatever. Her style is very much western therefore there's no excuse to be stuck on exactly the same proportions for literally every character that have eyes and a mouth when you can have exaggerated variety such a style allows.

This is particularly funny because not only does she very clearly ONLY know how to draw big, sharp smiley faces, but she tried to make one of her main character's, Alastor, defining trait his big sharp smiley face. She says it's some weird form of dominance, (You know, even though that sounds straining as shit, and rampaging through hell is a way bigger show of dominance than grinning 24/7) but if you watch the show without that context, you'd assume that's just another Viv face.
Seriously, how are they not all constantly biting their own tongues off?

one of the best ways to make a character intimidating is an expression that's neutral orhard to read, or using smiles sparingly, likely only during an important event or revelation of some sort. Giving all your characters the same goofy shark teeth is a sonic.exe tier interpretation of character design.

Viv has a bad habit of going ham with her favorite aesthetics: sharp toothed-grins, the color red, bowties, etc. She could get away with these on a couple characters at most (Alastor is a rare example in that all three work with him IMO), but they get used so much that it drags her style down to edgy teenager territory.

I think the best way to make a character intimidating is to not make it look like they're trying to be that way. I can't take Alastor seriously when chances are good, in his head he's just like "And then I'll smile even HARDER, and make MORE static, that'll scare 'em!"

Honestly, as a design, Alastor was alright, if a little unbelievable for a dude who lived in the thirties to dress like a homicidal tomato, the problem is that Viv hit CTRL-C plus CTRL-V so many times he completely blends into the crowd of powerful suit wearing dudes built like sticks. I remember back when the pilot was still fresh when people were theorizing Alastor was secretly Lucifer because their designs are almost exactly the same.

Well, that's another two, the stick-thin bodies and the suits. It'd be one thing if she'd contained most of these to Alastor alone. The "Alastor is Lucifer in disguise" theories were silly but not completely unfounded given Viv can't control herself in this regard.

I know I should have expect this from the silhouette that was revealed a while back, but it's even worse with the full reveal. Now he really does look like a Christmas tree. Also, why isn't his face proportionate to the rest of his body? I wouldn't be surprised if he takes off that gigantic cloak/robe to reveal that he is super skinny underneath.
