I couldn't even really focus on half the stuff that happened because suddenly a new thing was already happening. Like when Razzle and Dazzle turn into dragons to face Adam there's like truly 20-25 seconds until one of them dies and then the whole dragon bit is over. In 20 seconds.
There was so much shit going on that I didn’t even realize Razzle and Dazzle were the dragons until you pointed it out. I just thought the dragons came out of nowhere.

Her art would improve on numerous levels if she did in fact get mindblown.

I hope we can all agree that at least this was better than another Steven Universe.
Now now, Steven Universe was a pleasant and quaint little show at the start, given a bit of time Hazbin has a big chance of derailing to the same degree, especially with the Lilith plotline we're probably gonna have to deal with a lot of mommy issues on top of the daddy issues.

Kinda funny that the lesbians in Steven Universe have more (methaporical) sex going on than the boring af lesbians in Hazbin tho, 0 chemistry

I was going to say "Man, Charlie and Vaggie sure haven't done a whole lot of kissing or lesbian things compared to the guys, I guess this is just another case of Vivz telling and not showing that these two fuck and love each oth- oh, they kiss in the last episode? Ok."

He does kinda look like Postal dude if he was a bit younger, lmao
Adam was literaly my favourite character in that he was the only one who was having fun the almost entire time. Maybe a little over-the-top sometimes, but I liked his presentation as someone who's just been around so long, and was kinda given a free pass the whole time, that he's just so arrogant. He was a fun character.

I kinda wonder what they intended by the weak smile he gives to Lute at the end just before he dies. Sincere pleasure that at least someone gives a shit? Viv seems like the post-Tumblr (probably loved Snape in HP) kinda person that probably wants to give the arch-villain even just a little genuine moment at the end. But who knows what they intended. I hope it was that; I also like it when someone who's only been a massive dick from the protagonists perspective is given a genuine humanising moment, as though they have their own shit going on and we just weren't privvy to it.

People say that the show would have been paced better if there were more episodes, but I strongly disagree. It was posted here before of Viv's outline for what she wanted a season of Habin Hotel to look like with 12 episodes and it also was all over the place with introducing plot lines that went no where. Helluva Boss and Zoophobia (especially Zoophobia) suffers the same issues, and she is in charge with how long she wants them to go. A24 probably helped a lot with limiting what Viv could add, otherwise we would have gotten another Steven Universe.
I genuinely wonder how much tardwrangling A24 had to do in regards to Viv and this show.

I enjoyed the last two eps in a general sense but holy shit the breakneck pacing was pretty egregious in these two, especially ep 8.

The absolute chaos of the pacing makes me think of how fucked up production on this must have been, with Viv clearly insisting on so many things being included that we then get a 20 second only dragon flying scene lol
I watched the series, and I think it was too limited by “YOU HAVE SIX MONTHS TO DO THIS BEFORE THE BIG DAY.” It made things way too rushed and didn’t actually give much time to get people more acclimated to the characters and setting. Really, fewer characters would’ve helped the pacing as well, as each character had to have their own mini plot line.

I do like the idea of redemption, but I think it could’ve also been executed better. It felt mostly like just random drama, with only a few minutes ever dedicated to people working on their issues so they can be redeemed.

Overall, the series just tries to fit in way too much for the few episodes there are. Eight episodes total at thirty minutes each is four hours to get people really acquainted with the plot, setting, and characters. The series didn’t do it for me, as I felt like I barely knew the characters.

Vivz wrote and animated what she knows: being a fujo and the yaoi she used to flick her bean to.

I barely even thought of Charlie and Vaggie as a couple. Their dynamic looked more like friends, but I also blame that on the writing just not dedicating enough time to really develop the relationship beyond the superficial.
Vaggie was always just made to be The Protaganist's girlfriend. She was initially dating Angel Dust before Charlie was created, but when Charlie became the new main character Vaggie just got shuffled off to her. She's just a bland love interest made just for shipping fanart.

It's even worse when you skip 5 months between one episode and another and then skip the rest of the month to the final battle, in the show we only saw a week on screen at best.

I couldn’t even tell how much time actually passed by because there were no indicators for it. In other tv shows, it’s common to show a seasonal change or a holiday to show passage of time. This actually would’ve been a cool concept. Hell is an entire culture in itself in the show, so I don’t get why they didn’t make up a holiday or two just to let the audience know how much time has gone on. To make it even easier, said holidays could just be versions of holidays people are already familiar with.

I'm assuming it's this plus the fact one woman in his life stayed by his side, even in his dying moments.

For extra context, it was an old staff member who gave Viv the idea. They thought Vaggie having a one-sided crush on Charlie would be cute, and Viv became such a fan of the ship that she went right past the one-sided part and decided to make them a pre-established couple. Vaggie really doesn't have any character outside of "tough soldier fights to protect their loved one" and it shows. She's basically Hazbin's version of Millie.

I'm guessing Vivzipop is a chick that says she's attracted to other chicks just to seem edgey and 'queer' but only uses that fake 'queerness' to feel less ashamed with her very public yaoi obsession. Which is pretty average of a Tumblr woman.
I'm bummed af that the lesbians had their sexuality pretty muted, but whatever.

I found myself really enjoying the series after rewatching it. It's different, it's well drawn. Helluva Boss is fun too. I let go of my previous shock of the 'rape-y' aspect because I see how important that is to the Angel Dust character now. It's supposed to be uncomfortable.

I see a lot of salty artists with pronouns in their profile talking about how 'problematic' the show is, but I sincerely think they're just jealous af of Vivzipop. I mean I have a FUCK ton of criticisms, but I'm honestly happy to see something NEW in the animation world that isn't just blocky ugly fat cal arts characters that ask each other what their pronouns are.
