You know, the pilot had its fair share of degeneracy, but it was at least kinda funny and had some meme moments. Charlie wasn’t being babied, Alastor actually felt intimidating, and the other characters were fine. Too bad Viv abandoned the show’s premise and made it “Heaven bad, Lucifer is misunderstood daddy” instead.

I’m not looking forward to the second season.

Vivz knows how to "make characters." She can't write for shit. It's increasingly clear she's a talented animator and designer who doesn't realize chatfucking isn't writing a story.

On a more serious note, I seen people blame HH having only ten episodes being a reason for the dubious writing.
Ah, yes, “This thing is shit but if we had more of said thing it would be better” truly the best of logic in display.

Being serious now a few more episodes would have helped a lot on the problems of pacing that the show has, eight episodes makes it close to impossible to develop anything outside of the main plot, but it wouldn’t be able to fix the actual main problem of the show, which is Vivz utter inability to create anything close to decent worldbuilding or plot cohesion, and no amount of extra episodes can fix that.

I'm not sure how one can fix this show's problems anymore without a massive overhaul.

Jesus christ, this is such a faggot show
I'm really tired of depression being used as a "quirky personality trait". Like, it's one thing to make jokes on a mental illness. But, now it just seems like everyone is just adding mental illnesses to their characters as stats and to be #relatable! (God, I can't believe I typed that)

An image of a conversation on discord between a random person and someone who poses as vivziepop, with her nickname and profile picture. The "Vivze" in this conversation basically announces that Lucifer is trans and gave birth to Charlie and that Lilith is trans too.

It's very likely a falsely generated discord screenshot that's circulating, with a bunch of Tumblr people shouting "HE'S TRANS!!!!!" without official confirmation

If fake, good trolling.

If the real Vivzie decides to make it canon,

Didn't watch the show or the pilot because empathizing with literal demons doesn't quite sit right with me and I'm not even religious. Would it be better if it wasn't set in the literal Hell but somewhere more abstract and still had more or less the same characters and premise?
I have a passing interest in the occult, so bear with me as I ramble for a second. (And rev up those puzzle piece reacts.)

Something worth noticing about le current year is that there is a trend for (most notably LGBTQ+) people to embrace demonic/Satanic imagery. In my experience, it's an act of rebellion toward that individual's religious upbringing or traditional culture. The problem is, one would think that the best way to rebel against religion/tradition, is to simply embrace nothing. However, embracing nothing doesn't make you many friends. So bearing some kind of iconography is just a substitute for religion as it is another way for people to identify one another (you know, like the ice-cream flags or Redditor Atheist t-shirts).

The thing that bothers me about this is whether or not you're religious, there's an implication these people often miss. That is:
1) If demons are real, they expect an equivalent exchange for their service to you, which - without proper education and precautions taken - can lead to one's destruction. (see: Aleister Crowley)
2) If demons aren't real, simply using demonic symbolism is a giveaway that you are a self-serving individual with no interest in the world outside of what it can do for you personally.

Setting Hazbin Hotel in a place other than Hell would have made the project forgettable. Hazbin and Helluva are for people who are currently in (or stuck in) a rebellious phase who think there are no repercussions to being "a sinner." However, like I said in a previous post, the "sins" committed by the show's characters are a child's Disneyfied view of the sinister side of humanity. I think everyone on the planet is willing to admit that the media you consume is going to influence your behavior. And while Hazbin Hotel has an adult rating, it is obviously made for teenagers.

All that said, I try to not wear my tinfoil hat too tight. I'm just an idiot on the Internet who likes cartoons and animation.

The most reasonable opinion is that having a show take place in Heaven and Hell sparks discussion between people from all walks of life. Even secular, educated people have read classical literature that features Heaven, Hell, Satan, and demons.

Any time you talk about X, Y, or Z media, you are giving them free advertisement. Also, demonic iconography is in the public domain, so even if you don't want to buy Hazbin or Helluva merch, you can still signal your love of a show by purchasing a Stolas sigil off of Etsy. "Seize unclaimed territory" is common advice given to people trying to make unique art. Public domain is just free real estate.

apparently real or not doesn't matter to Tumbrl, the damage is already done.

Just wait for them to persecute anyone who found the idea ridiculous as transphobes
I have a feeling Viv may have fucked up. If this isn’t Viv, how do you have a Discord server where someone can pretend to be you, the creator of this world, with no repercussions?

If this is Viv though, seems like something that she’d think up. It’s probably career suicide to go against an LGBT headcanon these days if you’re a creator.

@Castoreum Honestly, I’d say that it’s alright that a show with Heaven, Hell, angels, demons, and Satan himself doesn’t NEED to be some nuanced discussion about morality and the human soul and what happens after death involving a bunch of religious leaders, including the heads of at least five different sects of Christianity. But is your issue that Hazbin Hotel is a show that WANTS to have those kinds of conversations and is just really bad at it?

Also, I've been thinking about it somewhat, and Helluva Boss' setting is DEFINITELY some sort of limbo that's legally distinct enough from HH's version of hell purely because the Kesha wolf-bee eyesore (I refuse to call her Beelzebub) offhandly calls Lucifer "Satan" and mentions thinking he's hot with his shirt off. I don't know what situation they were in for that to even happen, but there's no way anyone could look at this depressed, pale, skinny twink of a loser and think he's hot, or look at his pure white chest and not be blinded, because I don't think there's a single character Viv's designed that has chest hair that isn't just fur.

Viv and the people who like her shows don't know a god damn thing about religion, guys, she just thinks the demon aesthetic is cool.
True. But even then, it doesn't really lean into any of the demon aesthetic. Half the characters are obscure looking furries and the other half are humans but with unnatural skin tones, maybe throw in a few extra appendages and shit and you have a certified Hazbin OC.

There's a handful of characters that look remotely demonic (Alastor and Zestialcome to mind). And even then, the angels look more demonic than many of the denizens of hell itself (putting horns on the angels is extremely subtle and smart!)
There's little consistency in how the characters are designed. At least the Goetians in Helluva follow a sort of similar aesthetic so you can look at them and know they are of the same species or kin. And the imps look mostly consistent as imps. But in Hazbin itself, it's kind of a mess.

Other than sharing the names of a few demons and biblical figures, and everything in hell being red, there's not really much in this show that shares the aesthetic commonly associated with hell and demons and shit like that. I get why they didn't straight up copy the illustrations from the Dictionnaire Infernal but at least that would look sick as fuck.

Honestly the religious symbolism/aesthetics in Viv's shows are on par with Japan doing that same type of thing with anime. It's just going for how cool it looks visually rather than looking into the meaning behind it.
but I would say that Japan uses Christianity mythology as westerners use Greek, Norse, Celtic mythology mixed with their own beliefs that gods and demons do not represent good and evil strictly, and mortals can ascend to divinity and kill gods. They have no history of Christianity as oppressors, they are the ones who persecuted, killed and tried to eradicate the religion

Vivze on the other hand has a story of scorn against Christianity that attracts like-minded and more extreme fans in the fandom who criticize the show for not going far enough in the bible bashing, but she still only addresses superficialities because her knowledge about their beliefs is what you learn on Sunday school and cringe religious trauma of Tumbrl.
