I actually really liked the premise of the initial pilot. Than the first episode aired and did the whole “actually, Satan was just an innocent widdle sad boi trying to protect woman and Adam is a mean ol’ sexist” and I just couldn’t be bothered.

Oh, so the thing that happened to the main show is happening to the shorts. Fan. Fucking. Tastic! Can’t wait to get a Stolas short, that one is going to be fucking awesome!
Truth be told, while I did initially believe the short was going to be about Verosika when it first got announced, I manage to figure out that it was going to about Chaz while going through his VA's Twitter a few days ago so I knew what I was heading into today.

Then they should have called it a music video. Why give the audience the false impression that it's going to be a 5-6 minute short when it's barely a 3 minute video about some shark singing about his two dicks; with one being big and one being small. I kind of already knew that Chaz probably had semi-correct anatomical genetalia; I didn't need a song about it.
I have to confess that was one of my favorite Stolas moments. I still wish we got more of his full demon mode moments, though. The duality of demonkind.

This is sort of the point of their "true" forms, one of the features I think was genuinely creative in this show. They can maintain a form of normality and appear to be nearly human, but their true forms are monstrous. Stolas has one of the best demon forms, why haven't we seen it more?

The video only covers the first season, btw. He absolutely hates it and has no desire to continue, but said he’ll suffer through season two if enough people want him to.
Viv and co. would need to gain a lot of self-awareness and much thicker skins for that to happen. I like it when a show is willing to make fun of itself/its genre, but that takes creators who can handle criticism and step outside themselves and see where their work is ripe for parody or self-deprecation, or where it needs to be course-corrected when it's gone off the rails. I doubt the HH/HB team can do this. They're used to online hugboxes like Tumblr where they can curate everything to their liking and never have to face any kind of pushback or criticism without a brigade of fans charging to their defense and reassuring them that they're perfect and brilliant and that the haters are dumb jealous losers.

I liked it too; back when I thought Stolas was this millenia old demon and ruined his marriage for a sexual fling, which he lost his wife and daughter because of it and now has to sit all alone in his empty mansion, reflecting on the consequences of his actions. Now...I think I have made it pretty clear in many posts before on my thoughts on Stolas, so that's all I'll say.
We can't get that now because they have to keep the effeminate gay man as being weak and helpless. Because that's the stereotypical yaoi tropes. And we know how stereotypical yaoi tropes treat gay men.
