I wouldn't call it the finest animation I've seen but if anything the roughness in some of the frames actually made me think "huh this was done by artists going frame by frame to sync the mouth with the dialogue and adding in stretch frames" rather than bland South Korean animation factory samey shit that can be pumped out for minimal cost and maximum appeal.

Color pallete was a little off, a lot of reds and blacks everywhere made it all feel samey even with scene changes and sometimes the backgrounds were too busy which is a shame because they're real labors of love themselves.

Characters were hit and miss, MC was fun and news reporter demon woman was well scripted and acted, angry latina lesbian didn't really add anything to the mix aside from being the pissy voice of reason but radio demon was another well executed concept. Angry drinking demon felt unnecessary, another 'Bender' character when you've already got one with Angeldust is a case of too many cooks, shame because Mick Laur is a good VA.

Art is good I'd say but shit like that is subjective but there is at least there was a decent variety of designs as well as clear silhouettes for the cast. If anything the scenes just felt a bit crowded at times that it was hard to see one red or dark character against the red / dark bg.

Comedy wasn't laugh a minute, I was smiling a bit throughout and the script was overall good though some scenes dragged on without adding much. Again, angry latina tended to do a lot of boring exposition that could have really been trimmed.

Voice acting was top notch, song 1 and 2 were good but the last one felt a bit vestigial.

I won't call it a steak dinner but I'd sure as hell call it a homecooked burger, rough around the edges and not made the way you'd order it in a restaurant but probably tastes just as good because there's a clear amount of effort and passion being poured into it.

There's no point trying to argue with the outrage mob, they'll soon forget it all in a week and just move onto the next thing to huff and puff about before linking their ko-fi and patreon like they're doing work getting 2k RTs on a post 0.004% of the population gives a shit about

I thought it was awesome, but I wasn't crazy about the songs (except Alastor's). The plot concept is pretty interesting. Angel Dust, Katie Killjoy, Charlie and Alastor are my favorite characters so far. I hope there will be more.

i really liked it, and i appreciate the fact that a bunch of people banded together to make an animated pilot without any help from the actual animation industry itself. major props for that. i was honestly taken aback the first 5 minutes in because i didn't expect it to be so adult with its humor, the voice acting was amazing for what it was, and although the characters look like sticks to me i still like the designs a whole damn lot and their personalities are damn good to me (except for that one bitch with the X for an eye. forgot her name, don't care). the animation is kind of odd to me though, there are times where it's inconsistent but i think that's to be expected with a project of this sort of scale. still okay though.
it's not the best but it's good for what it is. definitely deserves the attention to me

I kept my ear to the ground on this one for a while now, and was honestly kind of surprised.
First off, I enjoyed the pilot enough to want another episode. I liked the style, some of the humor, and the concept seems promising. But there are some issues.
The only thing I can think to call one of my issues with it is that it was ‘over animated’. Most movements didn’t need to happen and the sound effects needed to be reeled back by a large amount. It’s like they just kept on animating and animating without consideration for how well it would actually look. Same with the goofy sound effects. And it might just be me, but the mouth-flappings are just inaccurate enough to be distracting.
Another thing was the actual characters and plot. I find Angel Dust funny enough, but grating after a while. Maybe if there were less sex jokes from him, I would care more about what he’s up to. Charlie is fine, she seems like she could be either the most or least interesting character in the show depending on how typical they want to write her. The other chick I forgot her name, but she’s just kind of a basic angry foil to Charlie’s happy persona.
But my main nigga The Radio Demon sold it for me. He was a blast to watch. Him being kind of like a reality warper made the over-animation work with him, his voice was just right for both goofing around and seeming like an actual fucking devil, and his general persona reminded me of this video about an SCP salesman that I liked a lot. He’s just a blast to watch, and I hope to see more of him in the show.
I’m getting whiffs of Tumblrette from the show, though I haven’t actually looked into the author at all. If I had to guess just by the art style and some dialog, I’d say they’re a furry adjacent LGBTQ ally or something. The animal people are to furry to be a coincidence and the main character is a gay Star Vs The Forces Of Evil character mixed with the Coraline movie, so I’d be willing to put some light cash on me being right. I just hope the show focuses on making a good product more than delivering values to the audience.
So, overall I’d recommend giving it a shot, see what you think. I’ll keep up on it to see where it goes.

I'm a bit on the fence here like a few here. Super-fast pacing is to be expected for a pilot episode. At face value the character designs (except Charlie and Katie Killjoy) are a bit cluttering but I guess it makes them both vividly expressive and have a recognizable silhouette.

The only bone to pick is that Vivzie's artstyle exaggerates a lot stretching and squashing, pretty daunting to animate by modern TV standards. Though come to think again, considering how long we've been experiencing CalArts cutout animation, Hazbin is somewhat emulating the look and feel of 90s titles. The likes of Rocko's Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy, and CatDog, to name a few. Despite its own flaws I see a lot of potential, but knowing mega TV corpos nowadays it's likely to be watered down from tight scheduling and shittons of sweatshop outsourcing if it managed to find an outlet.

Off-topic but it's worth noting that there's another show of a similar animation style called Villainous that just released its pilot on Cartoon Network Latin America this year, so I daresay there will be some competition to oversee.

After having more days to think about it, I have to say there's more positives about it than negatives (to me).

-Ragtag group of randos actually completed the project
-A few professional animators were involved but most are amateurs with no experience. Honestly, I respect that a lot. The animation industry and animators on social media are, for the most part, incredibly exclusive and it's hard as hell for anyone not from a big school to get ANY real experience or get invited onto a project. If you're poor or just an average yet hard-working person, you're basically fucked. So again, yeah, I'm super glad for the amateurs who got to cut their teeth on something with lots of eyes on it.
-Outdated style, yes, but I'm old and it's cozy. And especially now, it is refreshing among the garden variety styles of the 2010s and soon entering 2020.
-The voice work is all good, I enjoyed each performance. Nothing really stuck out to my ear like "yikes".

Things like pacing, immature adult humor overload (cussing for the sake of cussing, in ways that doesn't sound natural), overly pink+red+black, etc., can all be improved upon. So I'm feeling more and more excited about HH, I hope it has some kind of future beyond only this pilot because I want more!

The writing was a little grating. It's like somebody grew up reading a shitton, but the only things they ever read were written by Jhonen Vasquez.

Still it was somewhat refreshing in that "oh hey, the obviously goth chich is wearing her full goth outfit to work today" way.

Everyone who tries to copy Jhonen’s writing and art style completely miss the point of his works and are the exact same people his writing makes fun of.

Anyways I watched the first 15 or so minutes and it was actually ok. The art style may be 2009 DA scene and the designs cluttered but compared to the cal arts style in many shows today it is a breath of fresh air. The animation, while not perfect, feels like it has actual soul to it. Even though the show itself is meh so far I greatly respect the work the animators put into the project.

so i went into it thinking i was gonna hate it, but i actually found it a bit charming.
it is as simplistic as a disney cartoon, minus the budget, but with adult humor and you know what? i can dig it. some of the character designs are jarring, and i'm getting sick of the amount of shark teeth i'm seeing.
i like a lot of the characters, radio demon guy is my favorite by far. i like spider fag and charlie as well. i think the weakest is the spanish speaking lesbo. she wasn't funny or interesting or nothing. she was just there to be grumpy and boring i guess juxtaposed with the more fun characters.

i don't know, it could use finetuning. it is a pilot. but for what they accomplished i think they did well. wouldn't mind seeing how they go from here. and i hope this encourages other creators to make independent work.

as for the niggas freaking out over the creator's porn or whatever, don't they give steven universe handjobs when rebecca sugar drew kiddie porn of ed edd and eddy characters???

Came across this Post in the furry drama thread which talks about drama between PKrussl and Vivziepop. Since I only learned about it through that post I won't try and make the same post but just possibly worse; go read the original.
