Do you believe that this series will turn to shit?

Definitely agree that there was way too much going on but not enough that actually mattered.
The news crawl and other single frame things are obviously there to make people pause or rewind, but I'm not sure that I'd actually want to rewatch it because of how many other details there are to keep track of all at once. Same applies to the songs where there's way too much going on for both sight and sound.
Alastor is spooky. Definitely the best-designed character.

I think I might be in the minority here. I'll start by saying I didn't think it was total shit, granted---as someone who dabbles in animation myself, I realize how much time, effort, blood, sweat and tears go into even making a shitty doodle move convincingly for one second, let alone animating several characters in a 30 minute pilot, so I applaud the dedication and work put into this thing. And while the songs got old pretty quickly, that first one in the beginning was actually kind of nice; Charlie's VA has a pretty decent singing voice.

But ultimately it's hindered by its busy art style, its awful "12 year-old who just discovered Spencer's"-style humor, and fucking atrocious pacing. Some of the characters in this thing seem to exist solely to look "cool" and have such shallow, one-note personalities that I found myself not really giving a shit about any of them. Cartoons like Ollie and Scoops, Bluehilda, and even Gooseworx's recent independent short Little Runmo are far superior, despite being more than half of this pilot's run time, and yet have a paltry number of views and likes compared to this extended tension headache of a cartoon.

I just watched this, and I believe most of my thoughts are echoed in this thread.

  • I thought it was fine. It's something that if I keep track of, I can continuously watch it.
  • The voice acting was great, definitely one of the best aspects of it.
  • The animation was either super fast in some places or stilted in others, but the majority of the pilot was animated fine. The song segments were way too fast.
  • Speaking of songs, I hope they don't continue doing them. I didn't like any of the songs done and this pilot had three.
  • The colors clash. The characters blend with the background and it puts a strain in your eyes.
  • The characters themselves don't particularly stand out too much, with the exception of Alastor, who is the best one so far. Design-wise, most of them are copy-paste with a few alterations. There is one thing that pisses me off so much and I've seen it done in other animations and anime, and that is the fact that they draw the eyes in front of the hair. If you want to show the eyes, don't put hair over them.

Overall, I give the pilot a 7/10. I hope they improve if they continue to make episodes. I will be staying very far away from the fandom.

Not bad as a first attempt. Hopefully the pacing and writing will get better by episode two. Oddly enough there were only two characters that stood out to me, and that was Charlie and Alastor I just found their character designs interesting (plus Alastors radio announcer voice sold it for me) and frankly I will be very interested to see what they do with them in the future.

Her main series hasn’t even been picked up yet? Why a spin off too?
Best I can tell, this is something she can work on and put out faster than the big thing. I also don’t think she’s trying to get this one picked up as a funded thing. So it’s like something fun she can do in the meantime.

she went over it a bit in that update video a few posts back

The trailer for her side series set in the same universe is out. And she’s actually got some really good VAs working on this as well.

I liked the Hazbin pilot good enough, and I'll give this one a chance, I think Vivzie could have a future, this are her first projects and she has no real experience, no one can expect them to be masterpieces and most important I'm really hopeful that the success she is having will open doors to more indie animation projects, if this success last that is.

But her character design sucks, it's a really hit or miss, and that new furry wolf girl has to be the worse of them all, her design is bland, boring and clashes really bad with all the other characters, it seems she isn't taking input in character design neither. And I won't get into scene composing.

OTOH she got some good VAs for this new show, and she must be hardworking to put together that other pilot, she has the start of a fanbase, I really can't say if this is going to last or burst in flames.

I'm glad to see independent animation thrive. But it's obvious that HH was made by a theater kid who still hasn't gotten out of her tumblr scene-kid phase, and I wouldn't be shocked if other autists flock to this.

That said if she or some editor wrangles some of the issues talked about in the thread then I honestly do see this being a great cartoon

Someone needs to tell Viv that her character designs absolutely do not work for animation. If something like Netflix picks this up the first thing they’ll do is demand she cut down on the busy designs.
