Do you believe that this series will turn to shit?

He looks like a strawberry pimp.

It is interesting though in that he is probably a cannibal. The Alastor comic involved him buying venison at a butcher shop before things got rather more violent. So that's probably the kind of serial killer he was. He does not seem very much like a deer at all, though if you look at deer furries in general, you end up with absolutely insane creeps like that Twitch deer queer. So I can definitely see a deer queer as a seriously fucked up individual like Alastor is.
He is canonically a cannibal, the end of the comic implied he was going to eat the butcher as well. Viv did this speed draw of him in 2017:

IIRC she also said somewhere that the forms sinners take in Hell are meant to be part of their punishment, so Alastor being a deer demon means he was most likely a hunter in life in addition to a serial killer.

Pyle is just trying to start pointless arguments.

Gonna add my 5 cents to this discussion though.

From my personal point of view, both shows definitely have problems, such as being edgy, repetitive and cringeworthy at times, characters who can be obnoxious, tired tropes and plenty of red flags, which indicate that soon or later they will get poisoned by Viv and co's sjw bullshite.

However, it's not hard to see why many* can find them attractive. Characters with wonky, but quirky designs, some of whom you can find likable for one reason or another, even if they are piece of trash maggots and/or irritating morons. Versions of Hell and Heaven that, while pretty goofy, have their own interesting aesthetics, which would be nice to explore. Nice combination of aspects typical for both, shows made for kiddos and shows made for adult audience. And they are entertaining enough to keep you watching.

But of course, it's not everyone's cup of tea and some of my points are pretty subjective. Heck, I could barely watch HB's first episode without rolling my eyes up.

*Not talking about THOSE "many", like your typical little wankers.

Also, I sure as fuck would take HH/HB any time over a soap opera with annoying little kid and humanoid gems with their lesbian dramas.

Though speaking of Alastor, he’s probably the only character whose design I’m just not feeling. When I first watched HH I took him as having a fox motif between his mostly red color scheme, pointed ear tufts with the black detailing, sharp teeth, and the way his antlers were easy to miss; I never would’ve gotten "deer" from his appearance if I hadn’t stumbled upon that but of trivia on accident. Plus I‘ve never been able to get over how out of place his bob(?) haircut looks on a man who supposedly died in the 30s, especially since Alastor comes off as much more old fashioned compared to characters like Angel and therefore less likely to change with trends. Supposedly died being accidentally shot by a deer hunter, so it’s possible his hair is meant to look like a hunting hat, but that feels like a stretch.
He died in an incident that involved dogs. Bet my arse, he was mauled to death.

I thought fucking pigs was beastiality.
Meh, she doesn't look THAT bad, even if she gained some weight.

I have read somewhere that idea of him being a cannibal was dropped, although Hazbin has some references to that concept.

It's actually hard to say for sure. Vivzie is known to hippity hop between her concepts often. As an example, compare how Blitzo looks in Hazbin's pilot to how he looks in Helluva.

Even that show had plenty of highlights and a lot of work behind it. People don’t give it enough credit.

Interestingly enough this was addressed in an in-character Instagram post. Apparently the Blitzo character model seen in HH was a Halloween costume. Of course the Doylist reason here is that his character design wasn’t finalized.

I highly doubt it. Viv has dropped or changed a few things but Alastor being a cannibal seems pretty consistent, especially given the fairly recent release of his comic. She did clarify that he only became a cannibal as a demon though.

The characters who have yet to appear are more where this comes into play. Mimzy, for example, was originally designed to have an unrequited crush on Alastor, but that may have been scrapped by now.

I didn't process all the available information there is, so I can be getting things wrong, but what I meant is that apparently, Alastor was supposed to be a cannibal back in his serial killer years too, until it was changed into him being a demon who eats other demons.

Is there an echo of this in Cherrie's obvious crush on Angel Dust?
What's with you and that spider junky fag?

Vaggie is an annoying SJW whore which is what I like about her because she is a foil to shitlords like Angel Dust.
And you just know from looking at her that her death was somehow related to her throwing a shit fit over something unbelievably petty. She looks like someone who literally died mad.

That’s kinda the part where I’m on the fence on Alastor’s design; it’s hard to tell what the intent was, given where the focus is being drawn towards. If his deer form was meant to be an ironic punishment in direct contrast to what he was like in life, then are we to take he’s supposed to look unassuming to viewers and characters at first glance? If so, then the majority of the elements of his design go against that. Maybe they were trying to an inverse of the wolf in sheep’s clothing archetype where the deer elements are deliberately being obfuscated because they tie into to parts of Alastor’s character he’d rather others not notice, but as I said before it’s hard to make a call on that with just a pilot and a prequel comic for context.

Besides, if A24 is reworking the show for tv, there’s a chance the pilot might also be getting tweaked some (if not a total facelift) for broadcast, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that came with edits to character designs. I’d personally tweak only tweak minor stuff like edit his hair and make his antlers just a little easier to notice and add a secondary color to break up all that red (maybe a cognac or a bronze?) but we’ll just have to wait and see I suppose.

Also, I sure as fuck would take HH/HB any time over a soap opera with annoying little kid and humanoid gems with their lesbian dramas.
Honestly, the only two things HH/HB have to do to be a step up from Steven Universe in my eyes are 1) to not introduce any plot developments with rapidly ticking clocks and/or a sense of high stakes gravitas only to spend several episodes immediately after goofing off until the eleventh hour, and 2) let at least one of the characters whose been introduced as unapologetically evil just stay evil for the whole series.

If it can manage to do that then we’re golden.

That I don't recall ever hearing of, but at the very least it's a headcanon some people like.

I'm gay for him. I have to admit it.

Mate, you fucking what? Didn't expect that from you.

Huh, never gave me similar impression. To me, she always seemed more like a victim of either abuse, rape and possibly torture or all of those.

What's funny about Vaggie's character, is that knowing Vivienne and her friend circle, it's very likely that she is intended to be relatable, especially if you keep in mind that she is showing the most common sense in comparison to other Hazbin characters so far, despite her attitude, sjw mannerisms and being a control freak. And yet, for many she comes off as a typical pissy bitch, who is mistakingly considered to be sort of an SJW caricature.

She's actually ridiculously realistic as an SJW whether or not that was intentional. And as you point out she's literally the only character who actually gives sensible advice, i.e. don't trust Alastor, Angel Dust is a fuckup, DO NOT FUCKING SING. And her good advice is completely ignored every time. Charlie lets Alastor in, puts up with Angel Dust's bullshit, and sings. It's very tumblr that a character like this is the only voice of reason in the show, but it actually makes sense in context. I love her flipping out and getting insulted by AD.

I've seen a theory that she was actually a prostitute in life and ended up getting killed by one of her Johns during a job gone horribly wrong, thus the reason why she seems to absolutely despise men. The main points to the theory were the fact that she's from El Salvador, which has a relatively high crime and prostitution rate, the thigh highs and short skirt which look like something a streetwalker might wear, and the fact that she's got two very prominent X's over her chest, as if to show off that she doesn't want to be touched there.

I think what helps is that Vaggie so far has been portrayed like a put-upon straight man more than anything. When I think of truly awful SJW characters, I think of shit like America Chavez breaking up with her long time girlfriend because said girlfriend didn’t want to uproot her life and move across the country to live in Chavez’s college dorm... and Chavez can teleport literally anywhere so the long distance thing wouldn’t even be an issue, or Squirrel Girl lecturing Spider Man about treating a wife beating psychopath who hunted people for sport like a bad guy because she’s considers the dude a friend, or the shoplifting and New Guy comics from local lolcow Jess and her subsequent shitfit when people thought she was the asshole in them.

Plus, considering the only primary sin that makes sense for Vaggie is Wrath given what we’ve seen, it would be kinda weird if part of character arc wasn’t tied to learning to take a chill pill once in a while.

I can see the logic, but I’m not sure I buy it. So far the men she’s been the most hostile towards have been Angel and Alastor, the guy who fucks up their plans and a guy who’s known to be dangerous. She also shows the same amount of distrust and dislike towards Nifty when she appears, so it’s not limited to just men.

The X’s across the tits might represent a desire not to be touched, but that doesn’t really prove prostitution since it could just as easily refer to feminist circles who also sport that imagery or the music/concert scenes where that look is popular. She’s also not the only character who has them, so I’m more inclined to believe that the X’s represent one or more traits all of them share - so far the theories I’ve been leaning towards are that Xs are for Wrath or where people were hit with kill shots.

You forgot a lesbo drama forced to satisfy dumbass shippers and LGBTWTFBBQers.

Am I the only one here who finds it kinda odd that lately most attention goes to HB and not HH?
I’m not surprised at all. We’re not going to hear or see anything about HH until it gets closer to release or they announce what streaming service it’s going to; while HB seems to be coming out more or less as they finish them.

"Ridiculously realistic" would be way worse than what we have seen of her so far. Well, time will show.

Anyway, that was my point exactly. If the intent was to make her a relatable character, her personality backfired badly, since she is barely taken serious, unless she actually says something smart, whether you take in the context or not.
