I hadn't really heard of them until a friend asked me what I thought of them but I never really browsed /pol/ outside of major happenings either. I did see one thread by Q earlier on before it became an embarrassing boomer meme and my reaction was pretty much 'Big if true but this guy is almost certainly a LARPing faggot'.

I remember the FBI anons from before the 2016 election, but like many of you I never heard of Q until the media starting trying to make it out to be a thing. But I never knew anyone who believed it. No one I knew IRL talked about it, it was only liberals in the media. It's almost like they were the REAL Q believers all along.
I do think it's amusing that no one on Trump's staff ever seemed to sit him down and explain it to him. I'm sure he wouldn't have been amused at Q's claim that REALLY Robert Mueller was trying to 'help' Trump.

I've known one Q person irl, sort of, an older lady I worked with left her twitter account open and I saw some vague Q shit, sort of like what Roseanne Barr used to post about in her ambien ramblings. The only other people I've known who are even familiar with the phenomenon are older CNN/MSNBC watchers, when I've mentioned it to people my age they often don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. I know it's a real thing but the media definitely blows its scope out of proportion and has turned it into a catch-all for any right wing conspiracy shit.

Apparently it's because, as head of the site, it was his idea.
In all likelihood, I doubt we'll ever get the true identity of who started the movement considering it originated on a (mostly) anonymous image board. And I doubt the creator won't ever reveal themselves just to troll people, or they took one look at what this spawned and either walked away in shame or laughter and hasn't been seen since. Though I don't know why anyone would take credit for the antics of a website full of horny, lonely and overly religious retards whose claim to fames are trolling Oprah with "over 9000 penises" and making sure crappy MSPaint memes don't die when they really should.
