>he doesn't know the rage of putting a movie inside the usb and the movie not being able to read it.

It was a fucking shock when I tried to play an AVI video and it couldn't read.
Hardware accelerated video is, for all intents and purposes, a black art, and passing years only increase the obscurity of the weird edge cases. My phone (Moto G Fast) won't play hardware-accelerated MP4 unless it's explicitly YV12 pixel format. I spent days trying to figure this out.

Am I correct in thinking that this method would require decent wifi to allow the devices to connect to one another? Because poor, rural internet and inferior home wifi is mostly the cause for my desire to run stuff directly from a USB or something similar. That is a cool idea though. I can keep it in my back pocket for when better connection speeds reach my area.
cables mate, wifi is some normie tier shit (and comes with it's own share of problems most aren't aware of). then plug it into a cheap itx or other form factor if the missus complains, otherwise just use an matx.

>no one wants gaymershit in the living room!
just buy a simple black or whatever case
>no one wants those in the living room either!
what about that big ass subwoofer then?

that's why you always want to go with a software solution (assuming the hardware is strong enough, but even then it can be accelerated). you'll always have more options and support than even the best hardware solution could offer.
