This is a fucking treasure trove, I love it.

Holy shit, this is an actual thing? I thought it was a scam for tumblrbux.

My theory is that this is one of the most diabolically genius trolls ever.

1) E-beg for money to get the site started

2) Create the site, then trick the snowflakes into doxing themselves

3) Trolls come to find easily doxed targets

4) Dox victims come crying to HeartMob, and throw more money at it

5) Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Engage them. If you feel like you need to have your voice heard, feel free to engage with the trolls.

Ahh yes that always turns out to be a good idea. Solid advice Heartmob

  1. What is a HeartMobber?
A HeartMobber is a person who believes in making the Internet a safer and more welcoming space through building online community, providing support to those affected, and disrupting online harassment with love and support.
  2. How do I become a HeartMobber?
To become a HeartMobber you should select the ‘Sign up to help others’ button on the HeartMob homepage. After that, just follow the steps to create an account.

All HeartMobber accounts are reviewed prior to being accepted through the social media account linked to the request to determine if a person has a stable online identity, as well as no history of hate. Some well-intentioned HeartMobber accounts may be rejected if their linked social media platforms do not meet our predetermined criteria. We hope that you understand that this is a safety precaution, and you are free to reapply for an account at any time.
  3. How does it work?
After creating an account you have the opportunity to support people who have posted public cases of online harassment on HeartMob through completing their help requests. Help requests come in many forms, for example, asking a HeartMobber to write a supportive comment on the case, reporting the harassment on the site where it happened, or just clicking the ‘I’ve got your back!’ button. All you need to do is check out the ‘take action’ section of an individual’s case and support them the way they want to be supported.
  4. Best Practices
We know that supporting people who are dealing with issues of online harassment can be emotionally taxing work--but it can also be super rewarding. The work that you do as a HeartMobber is important, so here are some tips to help you be the best HeartMobber you can be!
    • Supporting people on their own terms.
Through HeartMob people can ask for help how they want it, and when they want it. Your job is to listen and follow their lead. For example, if someone asks for a simple supportive comment, don’t tell them what they could or should be doing instead. We know you’re just trying to help, but harassment has a way of filling folks with self doubt and we want HeartMob to be a supportive environment.
    • Stick to the documented harassment.
There is a lot of hate out there, and in your efforts to help you may discover more than what the person being harassed originally reported. Unless the person being harassed explicitly asks you to, don’t point out additional harassment to them that is not already documented on HeartMob. This can cause deeper trauma and make the reporter feel less in control of their story.
    • Fight fire with water (not more fire).
It’s normal to be enraged when you see online harassment, but HeartMobbers should never harass the harasser. Perpetuating abuse and violence only leads to more abuse and violence.
    • Take care of yourself.
Being a good HeartMobber can be exhausting, which is why it's important to take care of yourself. Reading through abusive and violent content can take a toll, so be good to yourself and check out our handy self care guide for some tips on how to unwind

"disrupting online harassment with love and support"
lol yeah i'm sure those rabid tumblrinas are going to send the trolls some nice, heartfelt messages instead of shitting themselves and harassing the trolls back

What kind of dox prevension website doesn't say 'dont use one username for everything'

One that recognizes that you can't virtue-signal if you don't fingerprint everything you do on the internet. This also explains why these web corporations are eager to cave in to calls for "anti-harassment policies" and such: they want their stupid users to feel safe, so they can integrate everything they do on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram and feed the big data machine with thoughts, impressions, and more importantly, what they are interested into, so those targeted ads are worth more. Corporations love the SJWs because their data is worthy more, since they surrender it so easily. Notice that they don't offer technical advice like "use Tor to anonymize yourself" and "use Adblock/NoTracking software to reduce the risk of your online activities being tracked".

They encourage you to dox yourself and allow them access to all your social media accounts to fight cyberbullying? Are we sure this isn't an elaborate Chan prank?

Cantonese basketweaving boards lost their knowledge of the trade a long time ago. Anons are too obvious to do something like that, and even if they could, someone would have spilled the spaghetti already. No, I believe it is a legit (and incompetent) endeavour.

What could really be done, however, is to spread the rumor that Heartmob is an ebin 4chan year-long subversive troll operation (like everybody knows the notorious hacker group Anonymoose does), so people get scared of signing to it.

This has to be a joke right? Some of the advice is just so bad.

Then again, they seem to be under the assumption that doxxing or online harassment is semi unavoidable and this services it more for people to sign up to have reassurance and compliments hurled at them. Perhaps these people are just like spacey new age therapy types who know nothing about how the Internet works and just want to send positive vibes.

I honestly see no issue here.
I'm fucking bored, man. If it means more dipshits running in to fight the evil trolls and making a scene, I'm totally down with that. Half the fun people are too scared or too beaten to play with us anymore.
Shit, I'd almost kick them a few bucks just to create some fucking content.

Why on Earth would you do that, though, when you could just data mine the shit out of it and dox every single (legitimate) user.

Even the twitter is fucked

So from their About page, I'm guessing these are the creators of this dumpster fire?

Is it an "app" that autoposts to your Facebook or do you have to give up your email & password?

No, the you just have to give it access through the facebook UI (basically click "I approve" once).
@Null People found out that you can get to the personal page of users by switching numbers in the url, how about creating a script that generates random numbers and grabs and archives every page that comes up? :story:

The pages tend to be https://iheartmob.org/home/XXX , I've just tried several random 3 digit numbers and got pages for most of them.

Wow it's that pathetic? Haha.

I've had some dealings with the Facebook API. Straight from an engineers mouth: apps must not autopost on a users behalf, and any apps that do get taken off very quickly.

I don't know to what is considered okay and what isn't (I'll look into it) but it sounds like this violates Facebook t&cs.

Edit: section 2 part 3
https://developers.facebook.com/policy/

Don't prefill captions, comments, messages, or the user message parameter of posts with content a person or business didn’t create, even if the person can edit or remove the content before sharing. You may use our Share Dialogs to prefill a single hashtag in a post, but don't prefill any content a person or business didn't create via the API.

what happened to 'do not feed the trolls'

this must be ruse?

It's not a ruse, it's the continuation of the slow death of the pre-social media internet. Just as the Eternal September of 1993 killed the old Usenet culture forever, the Endless July of 2007 flooded the internet with a bunch of people who associated it with the facebook app on their iPhone and little else. The advice of the previous generation of internet users is ignored, because this new influx of users is so closely tied to social media. They react to trolls as if it were a real-life confrontation, and get upset when they're told to just ignore them.

Plus, look at that staff sheet. Do you really think these people are self-aware enough to do this as a con? They're basically the progressive version of Helen Lovejoy, looking for a crusade to signal about how virtuous they are.
