Hegelian dialectic is just a fart huffing academic believing he invented the concept of compromise.

Most continental philosophy consisted of profoundly autistic and/or schizo men inventing words to describe mundane concepts that even stupid people already had a perfectly functional intuitive understanding of.
I used to like reading philosophy until I picked up Being and Nothingness by Jean Paul Sartre and it was the most verbose meaningless bullshit. Just page after page of vague long winded bullshit and the whole thing boiled down to being "authentic".

Literally, fuck this guy. He ain't that smart. Anyone could tell you not to be a poser. And also I found out he was a pedophile so I got drunk and I lit the book on fire.

Most intellectuals are so pretentious. They say shit everyone knows but since they can conjure up some stupid fucking word salad they can publish a book and act like their ideas are so profound. Most philosophy is utter bullshit.

Did someone say Hegelian Dialectics?!

His use of dialectics don't really attribute to Hegel, but he's also a post-apocalypse scholar who is working off who knows what kind of limited knowledge. Not really wrong. Dialectics in Caesar's usage is more ideals/principles. In relevance to the actual conflict of the game, it applies: the Legion is autocratic and brutal to a fault and the NCR are "democratic" and composed of pussies. The Legion successfully invading, occupying, and settling in California would mirror Mongol China.
The funny thing was that Hegel thought that through the dialectic thoughts and ideas would shed its own contradictions. Meanwhile in real life we just see academia radicalize itself further and further, damned be the contradictions.

You could also boil down Hegelian and Marxist dialectics to "things interact", meaning it's a pointless observation that any child intuitively understands
He was way too optimistic. Too much of philosophy goes into how things should be rather than how they are.

I thought he meant more like Society gets Destroyed, thus a Destructive Society is superior in the resulting aftermath of the conflict. So the NCR is trying to replicate the extinct Society (old world America) is a lost cause to be replaced by the Legion's Destructive Society.
Something roughly like that.

There's so many ways to interpret what he says because dialectics can mean several different things depending on the context.
but most people's complaints are the reddit left can't meme one about how that's not hegel's meaning

Universities are money making neoliberal institutions and have been for decades so not sure what you're on about, the very fact you even have some concept of what dialectics is should mean you have enough critical chops to figure that out for yourself. For instance if you go into poltical science you're learning careerism, not revolutionary thought or what the west's real relationship to the global south is like. They have no guiding political agenda beyond what secures them research contracts with boeing etc.
You have to be rather obtuse not to see that universities are breeding grounds for lunatics.
For about 200 years now they've been spitting out people who do not understand human psychology. Who seek to tear down their own nations. To destroy in the name of tolerance.
The university board might be in it for the money. But the professors and students are in it for self satisfaction. There exists a purity spiral in academia where people embrace the extreme because not being extreme makes you reactionary

I'm pretty sure "tolerance" is just a side effect of getting out of your shithole burg and getting educated about something, my nigga. Show me on a list how many american schools teach marxism. You're not going into any of these places and getting a professor telling you Islam is superior to Christianity or whatever slop fox news is claiming to frightened reactionary pigs lately.
Congratulations, you've reached peak reddit euphoria.
I'm sure it's going to be futile to bring up the academia supporting genital mutilation, oppressor-oppressed worldview, critical race theory, and decriminalizing theft, because you consider such things heckin valid

It's Ashley Hutsell, she grew up in a tiny racist town, had a decent and safe upbringing in a homogenous setting, and hated it so much that she wants to prevent anyone else from growing up in a safe, high trust society. Ashley knows very little about any subject you care to name, and academia is definitely one of those subjects. But she does hate white people, and America. My guess is that she sees academic foolishness as another tool to destroy society. Tell everyone your plans to Year Zero America and send at least 75 million Americans to be gulag'd, you fat psycho. Don't be shy, I'm sure everyone will be deeply impressed.

Congratulations, you've reached peak reddit euphoria.

Ashley doesn't know anything about those topics, and she's too dumb to express and defend her thoughts coherently anyway.

How's that MSW coming along, Assley? All the schools are back open from covid, you know. You're out of credible excuses.

Hegel’s dialectic is basically describing the constant evolution and reshaping of ideas, or well reality itself.

Society evolves, old forms are sublimated into new ways, which themselves are overtaken and become absorbed or their notable elements submerged into something else.

Families become tribes which become cities and then states. The old is not destroyed, it is changed as it grows.

A becomes B which becomes C which becomes D. There is no imaginary line separating them.

Being is in constant dynamism and is reshaped.

Important to remember Hegel was trying to overcome the limitations of Kant’s Idealism.

Also he was writing in the aftermath of the napoleonic era and about a generation after the enlightenment.

So you have all these grand social and political changes, and most importantly this idea of progress. Well what is progress going too? How is that expressed in the world of ideas?

Dialectics is basically a way to conceive of concepts in fluid motion, never static. Always becoming something that they aren’t.

I think if Hegel has any problem he’s too quick to impart some sort of teleology onto history when he likes where it’s going. “Napoleon was god on earth” or “Prussia is the end state of humanity”.

The idea of the world spirit of the absolute idea-this sort of force, or irresistible movement towards the Good and the Perfect.

Feudalism leads to capitalism leads to socialism leads to communism.

The idea of freedom is extended and critiqued every generation-leading to some sort of end state in which the perfect human society is achieved.

Of course under dialectics there is no end point. The utopia you’ve found today will be inadequate and backwards a century from now.

(And even I think I’ve probably explained elements of his thought wrong).
