Helicopter Parent Hate Thread

Helicopter parents have grown like cancer in recent years, with lockdowns increasing the problem. Children now have very little freedom and are constantly monitored and coddled by helicopter parents, stunting their growth and making them overdependent slaves to their selfish and foolish parents, who can't accept that their poor little baby is going to leave them.

Here are some video links on the topic.

Before the usual copes of "better safe than sorry," that's total BS. Kids are going to be fine. You hurt more than you help by hiding them from challenges. Kids are safer now than anytime in history. This idea that some pedo is going to snatch your kid right out of your arms is crazy paranoia. The other cope is "I do everything for you." THATS A BAD THING, MORON. Let your kids be independent. These parents are destroying their children's lives and making a generation of brainrotted lazy neets.

Still better than parents who give their small children an iPad for them to be hooked up on Cocomelon on YouTube, then afterwards complain about Cocomelon supposedly turning their children's brains to mush (turns out it was due to genetics).

tinythanos.png As for young teens, I believe the parents should have some level of responsability, not like these obsessive parents, but balanced, as all things should be.

If they manage to teach their kids that TikTok, OnlyFans, and parasocial relationships with streamers are one step closer to misery, that's a good start.

I’ve read stories from employers who said they’ve turned down potential employees due to their helicopter parents contacting them to make sure their kid’s job interview went well. This post was originally more sexual but my mom said I couldn’t do that.
I've heard stories like that way, way back in the 2000s. Just inb4 this has gotten worse.

The problem is parents themselves in a lot of cases are a lot more stressed out and messed up nowadays, with fewer healthy outlets. That causes them to treat their kids as an outlet and develop unhealthy relationships with them, which fucks up their children because they pick up how to interface with the world from being around their parents.

If you're going to have healthy, sane kids, the best thing you can do is live in a healthy, sane way they can emulate.

Fun fact: nowadays in a lot of schools they straight up give kindergarten kids ipads. Like it's part of their kindergarten curriculum, and sometimes it's required that parents buy their children headphones to bring to class, because they have these 5 year olds hooked up to electronic devices from the moment they enter school.

The idea is supposed to be that they put reading and math apps on the devices, except from what I've seen they also like to use them as regular "fuck off and entertain yourself" devices.

Also you're required to have legit about 4 different apps in order to keep track of every aspect of your child's school experience, for transportation, grades, teacher communication, school wide updates. It's deranged.

Lawnmower parents are the new bad parents. They want all challenges removed and never want their children to experience failure. Their children are all underappreciated geniuses and it's the mean algebra teacher who's keeping them from their scholarship to Harvard, not the fact that they brought specious research to board meetings to cancel homework, not the fact that they practiced child-led parenting, not that they grubbed every grade on their child's behalf and now their kid is a loser stoner sitting around the house because why else would he expect things to stop being handed to him?
Helicopter parents were more of a young millennial experience. Now that us millennials are having kids they're letting their kids have too much freedom, but that's just my experience in my community.
I loathe 13-16 year olds on e bikes by the way.

Before Current Year, kids could more freely go outside on their own (like me as a kid). That's not the case anymore, because of "pedo paranoia" -- because how dangerous Clown World "society" can be. So kids moreso stay indoors on "smartphones" and "social media" now.

I get the feeling there is serious app/smartphone/tablet fatigue growing at all levels of society.

It goes further back than that, really the 80s are when you start to see that shift in tone. That was when the first big wave of moral panics and protect-the-children took off.

The big difference is the technology wasn't there yet, so it was harder to keep them distracted and monitored.

I got that "stranger danger" lecture in elementary school. Good thing too: not long after, some strange guy in his car offered to "give me a ride" when walking to school.

Also nowadays in the West, if you happen to see kids playing outside, chances are you'll also see that at least one of their parents is also tagging along... just in case there's a nonce lurking about. I think the "pedo paranoia" happened for a reason. It sucks, but like I said, it may have to be that way.

I think so too. There's a difference between a moral panic and the numerous, literal examples of pedophiles grooming and preying on children especially online.

That whole Satanic abuse situation was strange. I still don't know what to make of it or what actually happened.

I've had teachers at my children's schools say shit like little Billy was going to "not be able to integrate with society" and was going to be "technologically backwards" if they didn't get to use the Shitbook or Shitpad to work what amount to glorified math worksheets. One dumb bitch even asked if I knew how to use a computer myself or "navigate technology." I have found that if you go in and specifically ask for a "religious exemption" with a straight face and threaten to escalate (I even mentioned something about going on Butlerian Jihad once, which probably got me put on a list) teachers will very begrudingly just print the fucking shit out and have your child do it on pen and paper, as god fucking intended.

Sounds dystopian. And who would want to integrate into a "society" of "smartphone zombies" anyway?

Also back when I was in elementary school, they'd be more likely to confiscate electronic devices.

This must be an American thing. I see a few kids out and about alone sometimes, especially at the pond fishing. I only wish that they were cleaner

If you're an adult and you let your parents rule your life then that's on you for being a pushover lmao.
Tbh if your whole life you've been under mummy and daddy, it's not like you're gonna magically grow a spine as soon as you turn 18. If you've been raised by an attack helicopter, you'll know that every little attempt at independence must be fought for tooth and nail, while being called the worst son/daughter imaginable. Yes, in theory you can get a job and move out, but a real helicopter will hinder you in any way possible and any breakthrough will be achieved through massive scandals and screaming. If you're someone who is meek by nature or just accepts the status quo, you'll end up taking it and never breaking out, until they're old and senile.
Many such cases. Often with women. Very sad.
Bonus infuriating helicopter behavior- blames you for not being able to do [insert basic household task here], shits on you and aggressively takes over any time you try to do it.

I like you and your children already. Being "technologically backwards" is going to be a huge advantage in the years to come. Look at how many people can't write or do basic math without using a damn AI bot or calculator. All it takes is a power outage and you're on top of the world.

Not even that extreme of a situation: you could be with a "smartphone zombie" who accidentally left his "smartphone" at home.

And so much for the claim that people get smarter aided by unlimited internet access (or maybe also artificial intelligence).
