Well, this is a bit awkward. I picked Helldivers 2 up a while back, never really did get into it, but I was thinking about giving a proper shot. The current... situation... of this game is making me think otherwise.

Is this game worth playing these days? Or should I just trade it back in?
The game is still very fun with friends. Pugging is very hit or miss, which is standard for most games.

I only wish I understood why it's possible to nerf something in under weeks of it being given to players with efficiency to the point entire arrays of weapons are gimped by so few developers that other staff members don't even know it's being worked on, but the moment people ask for a nerf to be reverted or a weapon to be buffed, it takes two months following careful planning, multiple staff meetings, and only after all hands are on deck while Sony comes in to hold their hands. The game is stale now and all promises to do anything have amounted to just talk, so far. It's an utter disappointment.

It's been six months and patch cycle aside, the game is still ultimately the same experience as it was at launch, albeit with less fun toys. A new stratagem here and there, a new warbond, a new mission type, a new difficulty, none of that matters so long as the paradigm remains the same. Where are the Illuminate? Where are vehicles? Where are any departures from the formula? Space Marine 2 may be a completely different type of game but I can see it putting a serious dent into the existing playerbase. I know I'm looking forward to it even with nonsense surrounding it.

I feel like it's more that the devs have taken the "joy" out if the live service war story with all the nerfs instead of continuing the whole "Fuck yeah! For Super Earth" feeling that happened at the start. A combo of bad devs, trannies CM, and eurocucks getting mad the "wrong" people like Super Earth will do a number to the player base.

Is it true that this game is dying? Seems like everyone was having a blast and then after the sony fuckery it just kind of...stopped being spoken anywhere.
It's still got a decent playerbase and you'll never have any trouble finding a game but a lot of players are pissed over the Sony account shit and the developers only balance to being to nerf whatever players are enjoying.

The population was on a strong downward trend even before the Sony shitshow because of the devs are literally retarded Swedecucks and the FOTM was eventually wearing off. The recent shitshow where they nerfed the fire damage right before a warbond based around fire-weapons came out is what really put a bullet in the kneecap as the game is peaking ~20k concurrent daily. The game is definitely playable right now and queues aren't that bad but if Space Marines 2 ends up being really good, it might accelerate HD2's decline.

So remember how rocket devastators and heavy devastators just keep shooting an infinite barrage of missiles and bullets? apparently that's not supposed to happen!
That's right! The devs are only noticing a day 1 bug now.
Another case of devs dont play their own game.

I simply have no choice but to assume I'm just amazing at this game.
There's simply no other reasonable alternative.

I am John Helldiver.
Im having a problem where I'm doing so good Im kinda bored.

Its still good. Beam weaponry is fantastic against the bots

Bugs.... Are more of a pain in the ass. Id argue you'd do fine with friends. The routine is just just getting a bit stale.

I think the main problem with the guns being too effective was the players accomplishing planet liberation too fast. Problem is the dev team thought it would be smart to nerf instead of upping the numbers or even inserting some fluff about the bugs adapting.

I do really like how objectives change on the map though.

At this rate you should probably pick up EDF. Preferably 4.1 or 5.

true suffering is two open slots. people weren't this fucking bad at helldivers a couple months ago when i last played it
The more people that take a hiatus from HD2, the more you find the complete retard shitters who stink even after they played over 300 hrs; basically the one guy your team would carry while they drained reinforces.

it makes me just a little bit sad. maybe the IQ smooths out a little on higher difficulties but it feels like herding cats. fighting automatons really amplifies the effect shitters have because they will get stuck in foreverwar chokepoints, they won't shoot the fucking airships, and they'll run a quarter mile kiting an entire honda factory's worth of robots without shooting a single one of them. if things don't go right these shitters start blaring gay rap music on the phone through the mic while running in circles, throwing the game like a gay little bitch in counter strike until you just kick them. i'll admit though that last problem was solved once i found out you can turn off crossplay once your playstation friends have joined your ship.

gaming solipsism
If youre not playing with actual friends why shouldnt the experience be self centered? Games are an escape from the mental retardation of those around me, adding in the retard factor just dilutes the escapism. The fact is helldivers has a very good, if not, superior solo experience, something that is very lacking in the modern horde shooter genre.

I'm getting a network error without any startup cinematics when I launch HD2 in steam; anyone else seeing this?
