Helldivers 2 - Hell is more diverse than ever as PlayStation's demographics continue to grow and change.

I was having constant crashing on an AMD card until some guy on steam forums said to turn off anti-aliasing and screen-space global illumination and haven't crashed since with everything else maxed. Game is good gameplay-wise so far, shooting stuff with the MG feels very good. It is very grindy though, but I've only gone up to difficulty 5 of 9 since I don't trust randoms to use the assisted reload weapons (RPG, anti-tank sniper, homing missile) that higher difficulties seem to require to kill the tankier bugs like chargers and bile titans. The rewards do increase on higher difficulties so if I had a decent group maybe it wouldn't feel as grindy.

Mostly sticking to bugs to help with the major order (I want that 10k) but I played a bit of Automatons since the quickplay on bug planets was bugged. They seem a lot harder, especially on the forested map since you can barely see where they're shooting from. I got a shield bubble strategem since then though so that would've helped.

Looking forward to Mechs and 3rd faction which should be coming soonish. I hope they didn't include it on launch because they wanted to lean into the story of the galactic war, but it's more likely they just didn't have the time. Still, game is good so far and hopefully gets better.

Worth A Buy review
Feels like an Early Access game
Annoying bugs (game issues, not literal bugs)
Unethical microtransactions, no denying the game is pay2win aka pay-to-get-an-advantage-over-your-fellow-players
Nothing hidden behind a paywall, but it's a long long grind without wallet use
Rancid anticheat

The living map is cool (what other players do makes a difference)
Singleplayer is nonsense, at least 3 players on the harder difficulties
It's cool that all kinds of stuff can be called down from the ship, but the associated minigame is absurd
You can't jump - guaranteed sign of a console port
Shooting limbs off is really cool
Starship Troopers is the better game

So how's that kernel level anti cheat everyone is talking about in steam reviews?
2005 korean mmos called, they want their "anticheat" back.

some theory was they were forced to include one because MUH CROSSPLAY and just picked the cheapest they could fine.

I wish ship modules either required less samples to buy or missions were 10-15 minutes shorter for an 80%+ clear. That and I shouldn't need to put the whole sequence in for a stratagem once Im past the point where I can't select anything else. Everything else feels incredible, took my friends head off by accident bringing the Super M60 to bear. Had some great missions with randos when quickplay worked

The only thing I noticed is that you get like 2 or so more clips with the premium war bond weapons and they have a additional effect like explosion or burning. Doesn't really matter cause you can wait till some one that bought them gets merc and steal it from his/her corpse.

If only EDF devs didn't fuck around for ages and released the EDF 6 on PC. But after the latest delay to summer I might have to play a fagstation game to calm my undying hated for the bugs.

I played the first one, hated for being pay-to-win as the strongest guns had to be purchased separately. It wasn't for a lot but still BUGGED me the wrong way. The combat was fun but got repetitive way too quickly unlike my precious EDF. I was never going to play the sequel until I found out devs realized 2004 was a few decades ago and opted out of making another top-down game.

My problem is enemies and weapons look way too similar to the first game and I don't like being reminded of the first game.

Tbh aside from the revolver none of the "premium" war bond weapons were particularly noteworthy.

The Breaker shotgun and Defender SMG you get pretty early in the free war bond blow every other primary away, and none of the super credit armors presented thus far were particularly better or worse than the free ones.
100%, the Breaker is easily the best weapon in the game by a long shot imo, the Defender is excellent too. Even the starting assault rifle is good at every difficulty. I honestly haven't been impressed by any of the premium weapons, I prefer the machine pistol to the revolver personally. You can stagger and even stunlock a lot of enemies with the explosive Liberator too but that's only a situational use.

I saw a guy using the premium incendiary grenades and they seemed pretty good so they might be worth it.

Fucking commie robots, attacking our rightfully liberated planets...
The Automaton assault on Xzar has been brutal; civvie missions up the ass, tons of Berserkers and Raider squadrons causing trouble, and just trying to keep said civvies alive is an exercise in pain

I mean, it's a good pain, but it's pain nonetheless. Game is fun as fuck though.

The game is fun. But you need 3 other friends who have time free or at least an competent PUG to enjoy the game properly.

Also in a post "fortified election" world I couldn't help but notice the bit about "managed democracy". Do leftists on twitter really not understand the game is making fun of their cognitive dissonance specifically with that bit when they say the game is a heckin valid satire of fascism?
