One thing I love about the warp pack is that you can dive with it, but then teleport yourself backwards instead of forwards.

Anyway, guess how I accidentally telefragged my buddy.
With this order me and 3 others went "This is stupid, let's do something stupid." We had fun coordinating the cooldowns on our railstrikes and isolating troopers until we could blap them from orbit. We probably got over a hundred between the four of us during this session, but yes this major order is stupid and poor showmanship
Isn't there an upgrade that makes it that you can tag an enemy and the railstrike will target them specifically, or am I imagining that? I honestly don't know because I don't run the railstrike.

That's the mortar only, sadly.

Also, AH apparently really wants us to succeed with the MO. And you know what, I like this bone they're throwing us. 2 free railcannon AND 30s cooldown AND being able to bring your own? Time to rain railshots on the bots. And if some troopers die along the way? That's a bonus.

I actually agree, it's a good steer. There's nothing quite like seeing a dropship come in and get painted by three lasers at once and blown out of the sky.

Wonder if they're doing this MO to change the railcannon strike. If the final result was you got 3 shots with it before it had to cooldown, and the cooldown timer was 1:30, I'd consider bringing it more often. Would be nice to have for multiple heavies around and also allow you to consider brining other support weapons besides RR, Quasar, EAT, and railcannon.

That’s been my thought for the last couple of rounds. When the railcannon cools down much faster it’s pretty useful. Sometimes it’s hard to find the last bot factory when you’re face to face with a bot drop. Just tossing in a railcannon strike and letting the auto targeting take over is great.

There's nothing that the orbital railcannon does that cannot be done by other things that aren't as limited in their ability to inflict damage. I personally have the 500kg Bomb and the Orbital Laser as my two main damage dealing call-ins, and they work pretty damn well so far as I can tell.
It's even worse imo because practically speaking, the railcannon always aims for center mass so it can't kill super heavies like factory striders or bile titans, or even harvesters reliably. Which means what it's good at killing is the same stuff you can hit with any weapon with heavy pen instead, and those can aim for weak points on super heavies too. It's pretty dire.
If it were instead something that bombs can't reliably do like simultaneously firing two or three armor piercing shots that can clear out a patrol of hulks and armored striders/ war striders reliably, that'd be a niche. Otherwise the anti tank gun call in does everything it does.

I think of the railcannon this way: It is an orbital precision strike but with no AOE is exchange for autoaiming on the nearest heavy. Its current cooldown is abysmal and makes it useless. If it were buffed to have the ~60 second cooldown of the orbital precision strike it would become actually viable (but not nobrainer overpowered) and a reasonable option to bring. There are already plenty of stratagems capable of mincing tanks, and hulks (strafing run, 500kg, precision strike, rocket pods, airstrike) and all of them have vastly superior uptime to the orbital railcannon strike.

Aye. While railcannon in its current state (30s CD, potential 3 uses, independent CD) is hilariously OP, the base strategem itself really needed a buff. Just a buff to 45s/60s cooldown down from however many minutes it requires now would merely put it on par with the other extant existing strategem. In fact, it would probably become a viable thing to take for the lazydiver; 60s to one shot something of your choice without needing to aim is something I can see a few people appreciating.

The orbital cannon has long been a staple for my bug dives. EATs, Guard Dog, and regular airstrike are my other 3. I'll use the EATs to get rid of heavies, airstrike to get rid of groups with a heavy in them, and if I see a heavy while my EATs are on cooldown I just throw the rail cannon as the "fuck you, fuck off" option. Though mainly I save it for impalers and spore chargers when I'm doing an objective; in my experience it's far and away the best "I am not dealing with your shit" option for Raise the Flag missions or clearing mega nests.

It is pretty nice when there's 2-3 spore chargers all in the same area and you can't see where the hell any of them are.

New Xbox release trailer...
Which usually wouldn't be that interesting, but there's a teaser for a Halo collab at the end of the trailer showing a rainy Megacity with the Halo 3: ODST saxophone stinger.

Yes it will be quite nice to equip my little helgast with halo weaponry

The rail cannon is pointless when the Liberator Penetrator and recoilless rifle solve 90% of your problems.

New Splash update leaked for the 26th.
I'm really not expecting much from this, even less than HoD.
Honestly I haven't touched the game in weeks and that's unlikely to change until SEAF Specialists 2 drops OR a ln actually substantial update.

What do you think the weapons the halo colab will bring? Mongoose strategem? CE pistol?

The teasers have been relating to ODST specifically which makes sense considering that the Helldivers name is probably heavily inspired by the ODST Helljumpers; we're probably going to get at least an M7S SMG, maybe an MA5 variant AR, would be cool to see the high fire rate MA5B from Halo 1 make an appearance. Can't wait for the collab since if we do get an M7S or M6C/SOCOM would be the first suppressed guns in the game, which is crazy considering that a suppressed Liberator has been in the game files for months now.
