I'm not sure there is much reason to use the recoiless rifle any more now that the quasar cannon exists. The only drawback is the charge up before the shot, but you have unlimited ammo without need for a backpack or lengthy reloads.

The MG needs more ammo and a larger mag. I've found it greatly effective using it prone from lookout points with recoil reducing gear, it saws through light and medium armour. The awful ammo capacity betrays this style of play though and the gun ain't suitable for much else.
Yeah, they really screwed up the trade-off balance. Even jacking up the recoil so HAVE to be prone + recoil reducing gear would be fine if the mags were bigger and it chewed everything below heavy armor. Even reducing the fire rate doesn't help that much.

It does rip through Devastators pretty quick, but because of the recoil, you need to be upsettingly close to them to have much of an impact, like short-to-medium range. Plus, it does very little to Hulks. I felt gimped taking the Heavy Machine Gun instead of the Autocannon. With the Autocannon, I literally just run around outflanking Annihilator tanks and fixed turrets and shooting their radiators, and it also clears out Devastators with concentrated fire and can one-shot walkers from the front at insane ranges.

The Quasar has fantastic single-shot damage and I can definitely see a use case for sniping Bile Titans with infinite ammo and clearing them out, but when faced with multiple Hulks or Chargers at relatively short range, that shot cooldown can feel like an eternity, and unlike the Autocannon or Flamethrower, it has no crowd control ability.

The Quasar can also shoot down Bot Drop ships in one shot (at least if you hit one of the engines) so its great to help with bot reinforcements if some one on the team can land the shot as the dropship comes rushing in.

Honestly if you got a sniper in the group its a great weapon for them in both the bots and bugs missions to take out everything from range.

I dont think its been mentioned yet but acquiring and throwing snowballs on ice planets will now cause crashes

do with this knowledge what you will

I am going to use the Quasar as much as I can before they inevitably nerf it for being too damned useful.

I wish the enemies would have more audio tells for when they're about to shoot/attack (i.e. Darktide's audio cues). I can't tell you how many times I've gotten snuck up on by a spewer in the middle of a hectic battle on higher difficulties. Maybe I'm just a blind retard that should pay attention more.

I'm excited to try out the new machine gun, as an MG enjoyer, I'm proud to assume the mantle as the teams crowd controller.
Bugs in general are way too silent, it's not just you. Bile spewers are also unreasonably fast for how tanky and destructive they are.

IMO there's still a role left for the Recoilless, because the reload takes a shorter time than the Quasar cannon takes to cool down for a new shot and you don't have to wait for the shots to charge. Thus, if paired with a team reloader or just positioning oneself well, it still can be quite useful.

I carry impact grenades just to take out those fuckers as soon as I see them. The buddy I regularly play with is always getting taken out by one that has snuck up on him. Beyond bile spewers making a shield a mandatory pick for me I don't know what's different between our playstyles that makes them even more of a nuisance for him, because they'll take shots at me when the shield is down and I'll still die less often.

It's one thing for hunters to quietly angle in on your ass and fuck you from behind but it feels more personal when bile spewers do the same thing.

I'd also say chargers are like that when it comes to their turning speed because a couple of times ive tried to flank one they are always able to quickly reposition themselves to face me

Don't pick fights all the time, know when and how to disengage. Shoot dropships down before they drop their load if you can.
I try, but when i disengage, i get team killed and kicked. lol

I try to run around with 500kg dropping them on the bot spawners with scout armor and i'll knock out 2-3 of them solo on the map and team is bitching the whole time then get me killed.

Ignore the cunts, operate harder than them and the bots combined. Just answer any complaints by advising them to keep up with your pace.

Can someone pill me on armor? How important is the armor bonus? What traits are advantageous when combined with what playstyle? I've been using the one that gives you a 50% chance to resist lethal damage but I dunno how that stacks up against others.

They don't make a huge difference. The 30% reduced detection window on the scout armour is nice playing solo.

I use the same set as you or sometimes the one with two bonus grenades.

The quasar cannon is my new favorite fucking thing ever. It's a recoilless without ammo. The charge up is negligible in my experience unless you're getting plastered by bot fire.

It breaks holes and fabricators. It blows the head off a charger, it takes out a dropship (not terribly great for 7+ where you get 3-4 per call but every bit counts), it can kill a hulk. It can severely wound a bile titan and probably takes 3 headshots (haven't tested)

The only thing is it doesn't instantly kill a tank or turret, but it seems afterwards just about one shot from anything to the heat sink kills it. I tapped a tank with a slugger shot after and it died.

Armor value is pretty insignificant to me since so much stuff at the higher levels will just kill you anyway. Depending on the situation I'll go with something that gives me more grenades or stims that last longer. There's also a good argument to be made for taking the servo armor to throw call ins farther
