Helldivers 2 - Hell is more diverse than ever as PlayStation's demographics continue to grow and change.

When I saw the steam post, I could physically feel the goodwill being pissed away.

We had a thread on this recently focusing on the PSN terms of service specifically. You really should absolutely read that fucker. It's a nightmare. If you install PSN on your computer and sign that TOS you are an absolute fool.

I mean, I play this game on Playstation anyways, but it's absolutely fascinating watching Sony shoot themselves in the other foot while mid-marathon.

This game has been phenomenal, felt like real video games still had a chance to shine against the backdrop of ESG scores and nefarious social manipulation. Sure, super credits are after-market monetization, but the game isn't that stingy with just giving you a few here and there. I've gotten all the current warbonds and a few super store sets without spending a dime, just took 100 hours of having fun and looking for treasure.

Then Arrowhead patched out the super credit farming trick, which pissed off a few people. Then Sony attempts to force the most arrogant, elitist playerbase to date (PC) to create a proprietary single-purpose account. They are really dropping the ball on this one. I hope Joel will compensate by making the planets easier to liberate, because low player count is what makes the first Helldivers unplayable/unwinnable now, and with moves like this, this game is getting fasttracked to that same fate.

Why are people mad about making a throwaway account?
Why do you suck corporate cock? It's that attitude that leads to shit like this, why get annoyed at the corpo fucking us both by implementing this when you can instead you can get mad at the people who don't want this and are calling it out. Sound fucking logic isn't.

Why are people mad about making a throwaway account?
Well there's a few reasons.
1. I have no desire to make ANOTHER throwaway account for a single game. I have enough of those already.
2. We've been playing without a PSN for months, so obviously the game does not need it to function.
3. Sony is full of kikes and Satan worshippers and probably also pedophiles. But I repeated myself 3 times there.

Got a link to said thread?

It's important for people saying "just make a throwaway account" to note that the PSN terms of service requires you to register under your real name, with Sony being allowed to require physical verification at their sole discretion. Failure to do this will result not only your account being banned and licenses revoked, but also at Sonyts discretion the banning of all accounts tied to you and your immediate family such as brothers, sisters, parents etc.

The PSN terms of service also give Sony an unrestricted right of content moderation of all SYSTEMS interacting with PSN. To include your computer, without limitation. Even if you use a throw away account, you are still installing the content moderation Spyware which will basically have free reign of your hard drive to look for problematic stuff.

I cannot stress hard enough, do not sign the PSN TOS and Do not install it on your computer. Even with a throw away account. Demand refunds for contractual breach.

I wonder if I can effectively burner this game's PSN requirement since my physical address has changed in the 10 fucking years since I've used PSN.
it gets worse, dunno if they allow it now (doubt it), but back then you literally could not change your country. not a problem for the US or maybe even japan, but it's not uncommon to the rest of SEA and europe. the retarded answer was "just make a new account hurr".
you could get around not being able to use bank transfers by buying a point card, but as people have pointed out that technically is against the TOS (never mind you have to do it for digital content that never gets released here, like JP imports)

iirc you just have to log in, not install anything (although given that crap nprotect, who knows what they cook up now).
there's not much data-sniffing sony could do besides IP, hardware IDs and usage times - all stuff arrowhead already has and they can get from them.

Post from the Helldivers 2 Discord, the Community Manager claims that its Sony's decision, not Arrowhead's.
