Bots and bugs were very similar in the first game. On higher levels, bots had a bit more armor, but they were fairly similar in how they fought. If anything, this sequel ramped up the faction differences.This would be a nice change of pace because the only real difference between bots and bugs is how crowded shit can get. They both have similar ideas of medium vs light armored troops and big "tanks" that cause issues. Hulks and chargers are fairly comparable it's just one shoots shit at you from afar non-stop and the tanks and bile titans are slower but deadlier.
I know stalwart fans would love being able to dumpster shit by tearing through shields.
Bots will just throw a bigger guy at you, add another 2 inches to his steel plating and pray that you don't have an anti-tank weapon. Devastators, Rocket Devastators, Heavy Devastators, Scout Striders, Hulks, Beserkers, Annihilator Tanks, Factory Striders are all armored and 3 of those explicitly require anti-tank. Only Commodores and Detector Towers can call in bot drops.
Bugs, on the other hand, are soft and squishy. Hive Guardians are armored but will clam up when under fire and can still be easily damaged from the front. Chargers don't require anti-tank but should be killed with it regardless because it takes forever shooting their butts. Bile Titans need anti-tank. But bugs swarm, and their tactics reflect that. Anything that isn't a Charger, Bile Titan, Bile Spewer or Stalker will call in a bug breach.
I am very excited for the Illuminate.
