It's always been great - it's the only turret with functionally limitless ammo, provided you give it time to cool off. Few turrets are as good against both mobs and heavies. The problem is that you need to keep an eye on it, and if you see it start smoking and making expensive sounds, that's a none-too-subtle warning to get the fuck away from it, because the thing doesn't have a cutoff limiter like most lasers, so it'll keep going until the heatsink explodes (killing nearby enemies when it does).
Definitely my favorite turret, if only because it doesn't seem to actively kill players like the Gatling Turret does.
Haven't played since December and I won't even entertain reinstalling until they do something about the game now being 141 GB. Apparently it's something to do with duplicated enemy models numbering in the dozens.

Quick Hive Lord rundown:
- It has 150k health
- Body has tank level 5 amour
- Mouth is the most vulnerable part having tank level 3 amour
- Other bug spawns appear to dip while the Hive Lord is active, making it easier to focus
- Fighting it solo is likely impossible
A quick video showcasing how difficult it is to kill it-
Runs decently at times, runs like shit at times. Cities are the worst. After a couple matches game starts stuttering for seconds at a time until you inevitably crash. Audio glitches. Audio missing entirely. Extraction beacon landing underground. Illuminate city missions seem to be the worst crash wise, in one match I played with 10 different people for how frequent it was.
I have not played much of the new update yet, performance on the new bug "biome" seems on par with normal planet missions, some audio fuckery is present but it probably has to do with the attenuation they use in the caves. On one mission in particular anyone that joined crashed shortly after, except me (host).
I wish they wouldn't let low level retards join difficulty 10 missions to die constantly.
Lol. People celebrated this company once as something better than AAA-slopware producers. Already they need 3rd party providing them with free work and data to point out where the storage went. They have no clue what they are doing.
After an hour or so of playtime, so far I have been insufficiently whelmed.
Seeing my first hivelord was admittedly fucking awesome but the rest of the Hive World is just boring. Having to look around for all the weird spore-lung veins and tracing them back to the central organ was neat too, but the main crux of the hives being "lmao it's a Mega Mega Nest and you can't use stratagems, enjoy faggot" is just... how is taking away the primary draw of the game and outright cucking the player any fun? And then you add the chronic 'mega-update breaking everything and making it run terribly' problem.
Hive lords fucking stink. I'm getting flashbacks to the Charger rework update. I can't find a match that lasts more than 5 minutes before the tanker vehicle gets smushed by it. At least leviathans were in the AIR; this thing just ruins the terrain and objects to make doing anything a pointless endeavour.

I think it has it's appeal. It's forcing scarcity on the player and not allowing them to rely on rods from god for the entire match, which also (theoretically lmao) encourages tighter teamplay and incentivizes people to work together rather than running off individually to John Helldiver it up.
It's an alternative to the more free power-fantasy aspect of the regular gameloop, which makes sense narratively given you're deep in uncharted enemy territory. You're supposed to feel more helpless than usual. I dunno, I think it feels like it's adding a new layer of difficulty that both fits the game and doesn't just rely on the bullshit "throw 18 quintillion enemies at you + predator strain, fuck you" line of thought.
Performance on new hive planets is fine but everywhere else its still dogshit. They need to fix these issues soon because its the biggest problem the game is facing right now.
The game is still 140gigs on pc for no reason. It was done this way to optimize for HDDs but in this day and age nobody should be using them. They could cut the game down to 30 gigs like on console if they removed all the duplicated assets.
This is outright terrible holy fuck. Burrowing Terminids that become invincible until they are right on top of you and get a free hit in is an obvious demonstration that Arrowhead has no idea what makes anything in their game work. Illuminates aren't a fluke, they're the future. Automatons is next.
