There is no stats, nor skill points no ANY MEANINGFUL game play mechanic in games currently requiring a level system. Ship modules and other unlocks can be tied purely to resources nothing changes, titles to cheevos or war bonds nothing changes, Because character levels are useless.
Gotta remember that the original level cap of the game was 50, where you unlocked everything at 40 essentially and getting to 50 was for prestige, then they raised it to 150 which the 100+ are useless. It's a useless feature that people want to show off how much they've played the game, Call of Duty has done the same thing with letting people reach over level 1000+ after grinding prestiges but even then at least the more modern ones give you something like skins and cosmetics unlike Helldivers. This would've been cool if they added more stuff to unlock but they've really fucked themselves by adding a hundred levels with nothing already since they could've just added 50 and had some content tied to the leveling but whatever.

Old leaker of Helldivers shit IronS1ights (Xitter, YouTube) has come back with a bunch of new-old content since I guess he somehow got his hands on some kind of alpha build of the game. So far he has shown off a tutorial with Hellbots, weapon and armor customization, the Platoon system, and probably some new shit in the future. The footage that he's posted is very interesting, the game seems to be a lot darker (literally, it's kind of hard to see shit) and has less of a "heroic" feeling with the background music being more electronic than orchestral. The biggest burn with this in my opinion is that they had this weapon customization feature down with a bunch of really cool features that have been leaked before just never actually shown off like different ammo types and secondary weapon customization. Same can go for the armor customization, since it was shown off in a way by IronS1ghts months ago. I really wonder what made him come back and start leaking pre-release shit like this since at one point he basically gave up entirely on that, something must've changed.

If you could get nine weeks of paid vacation per year* for being slightly less racist at work you would take that deal.

*you get paid extra when using vacation days.

Wow so your telling me they made a great game before launch but then gutted it for mtx
Why have tight weapon selection with player choice ammo and gubbins for free when you can sidegrade the hell out of it with paid for warbonds?

I don't see why we can't have secondary customization even if it's just an option for laser and flashlight and not much else.

I want a drum magazine for my senator.

I'm chronically stuck with the (goated, don't get me wrong) stim dart pistol as my sidearm because whenever I switch off of it at least a couple times a round I'll notice a teammate is hurt, reflexively swap to my secondary, and find what is traveling from my gun is not a pain relieving dart but an express ticket to heaven.

They're doing that thing again where the update releases at the usual time but the content unlocks later in the day so nothings happening right now. Cool things in the update, I appreciate the SEAF now appearing on actual planets with cool gear, some of the mag buffs are alright, but only two fucking enemies for the void Illuminate? I know this isn't the case but I have to cope and think that they're holding back some other enemies, right? It's kind of ridiculous that it's extremely predictable how little non-Bug subfactions get during updates. Like this is a fucking title update, give me something here...

Anyone noticing they broke the Watcher spawns? The little flying cunts on squid worlds that call in ships? Did a mission on a mindless masses planet and they were literally spawning in front of me. And they were spawning as frequently as voteless. I’d kill one and no shit another one would spawn right behind it.

The squids just stopped pulling their punches and figured out Helldivers need to be watched at all times.
