Here's your controller, bro - Post bad controllers, either in design or maintenance

God damn thing hurts my hands especially if I have to hold the analog stick down for awhile.

This thing when I first used it was awful. Doesn't help that I am a woman so, automatically suck at driving.

Looks like a bad remote control.

Felt cheaply made, don't like how Start and Select are so skinny and far up the top. The bottom grips are uncomfortable. MadCatz didn't make good controllers in the seventh gen.

Not necessiarly the controller itself per se, but how developers utilized it. Nothing more than wiggle and shake, especially with shovelware.
Its all fun and games until a WI remote flys through a tv.

@Visitor aside from the D-Pad, the Xbox 360 controller is perfection. Comfortable, sturdy, and great with shooters. You know those snobs on the D-Pad? Those sorta help with multi-direction.

Look closely. No PS logo on the front or SONY logo printed on it. Knock off PS3 controllers that removed the SIXAXIS motion, rendering a couple games almost unplayable. And the PS3 SIXAXIS controller that removed rumble. Vibration was not phasing out.

That Terry Crews one is magnificent, fuck you.

Here's a terrible controller for you guys.

This thing is such a piece of shit, the body is way too fat, the dpad is god-awful and the assymmetrical analogue stick placement makes no fucking sense at all. The buttons are too round and the battery pack always feels obtrusive.
If you think the original 360 controller is bad, take a look at this shit.

This is so fucking stupid. So unbelievably stupid.

One of my favorite controllers only for the fact that if you wrap your hands around it like I do, you end up giving two thumbs up. The d-pad was pretty sad and not good for playing fighting games with though, and the analog stick felt kind of weird. I love this controller a lot, but even I have to admit that it wasn't the best design.

I can't find the name of this 3rd party controller for the SNES (I think there was a Genesis version too) that didn't have the typical clicky D-Pad. It had a smooth surface kind of like a touch screen. There was a commercial showing off how it won't hurt your thumbs. Fast forward 6 months later and I see one of these things at a clearance sale and buy it for $5. Worst $5 I ever spent. It had the absolute shittiest D-Pad I've ever fucking used in my life. Using an actual touch screen for a mobile game would have much more precise controls.
This one?

Image appears to be broken.

I came here to post the N64 controller but since that was already done I have nothing. It's probably the worst first party controller for a successful console ever made, worse even then the dinner plate with analog sticks that Microsoft tried to sell to non-Asian audiences when they launched the XBox.

The point of the N64 controller was that it was made during the transition from mainly 2D video games to mainly 3D video games. Hence you had two options for holding the controller: grabbing the center for 3D games, and grabbing the left for 2D games. Except almost zero games actually stayed 2D, as everyone hopped on the 3D bandwagon. Today, people joke that the controllers were made for the Vortigaunts from Half Life.

LOL, Asians have tiny hands.

It was a weird ass controller. No doubt about it. But it was obvious, at the time, how you held it: you had your left hand on the center whateverthefuckyouwanttocallit to control the analog stick. Excusable at the time because analog sticks didn't take off too well with the Atari 5200. I can't think of a single game that ever made use of the D-Pad. Only one I can think of is Mortal Kombat 4 where you had to press the left shoulder button and the Z trigger and something else in order to do Subzero's slide move. But as a kid not knowing anything you just used the analog because you're not going to tournaments or anything.

I think Nintendo cooked something interesting with the nunchuck but squandered most of its potential by attaching it to the wiimote. The joycons aren't quite there, either.

Lately I've considered how it would be like to play FPS with a mouse + one hand joystick with a few triggers in lieu of the conventional WASD.

Sounds like something MadCatz would put out. Fuck that company.
Is this it?

Huh, "Triax"

EDIT - NINJA'd

Everyone knows the N64 controller sucks but the Gamecube controller is even shittier. It's too small, the buttons are stiff and awkward (especially the Z button and the d-pad), and that stupid squiggly line on the left stick gouges into your thumb when playing for long sessions.
