Holy shit, this dude's rant is a goldmine. You would have a hard time finding somebody more out of touch with every external aspect of his industry than this dude. "Timmy from accounting said this game was unsinkable!" Good grief.
IIRC this was his first game and he's mainly worked for movies, Dreamworks, Disney, etc. But for somone who this was such a dream job as a gamer, he should know the climate at the bare minimum. I've seen him in twitch/yt stream chats before and his takes are usually hot garbage so he's keeping up the brand.

He's definitely from libtard spaces and he wrote a book where the character is his self-insert working through Christian fundamentalist trauma being an autist. Yes, literally the 'faggot has religious trauma and course corrects as far left as he can into another cult doctrine' trope.

Speaking of which, what engine does this runs on? If it's by UE5, I have an reasonably good idea on what they used to design the characters
It is UE5, yes.

Jesus they tied this fucking thing to Epic, too? Dumb motherfuckers.
Epic Online Services are multi-platform social and game services that are free and available for developers to use on any storefront, platform, and with any game engine. The services connect players with friends across platforms and include many features for game development, from crossplay, to anti-cheat, to account login systems, and more. Each service operates independently of one another, meaning developers can freely pick and choose services that may benefit their game experience and players. https://onlineservices.epicgames.com/en-US/faq

Thank you, ChatGPT.

Also, lol, Jesus they tied this fucking thing to Epic, too? Dumb motherfuckers.

I was sad that this game was going to have a kind of anticlimactic end compared to the wonderful implosion of Concord, but the mass layoffs so soon and this tard developer having a Byuu-esque spergout at da chud gamer trolls who left downdoots on the review page has made up for it. I’m looking forward to whatever ends up being Concord 3.

in a way it speaks a lot to the game itself. It's so boring that it can't even fail in a spectacular way.

For once YouTube actually did it's job and recommended me this video lol
Our nigga bro telling it his it is ngl

I genuinely try to avoid the cognitive bias of assuming the devs were hopeless, arrogant, and completely out of touch. Unfortunately, they are consistently providing irrefutable evidence they are all three and deserve zero sympathy. I was originally apathetic about the game as I was with Concord, but now I am actively enjoying the fact it failed.

As expected, leftist has the furthest connection from reality.
His entire rant about positive feedback is as reliable as a tranny getting affirmed by everyone that he's a woman and nobody can tell the difference.

I think it's funny how these trannydevs are always aggressively anti capitalist with Soviet iconography all over their Bluesky profiles but when it comes to their shit they suddenly morph into Cyberpunk 2077 villains insisting that the corpo product is God and you must worship it.

Yeah, I won't be surprised if they went with Metahumans for this.

Barely anything is cooked at home, basically.
Yeah, this shit is THE cheapest way to run an online game. I'm not sure about the going rate for Epic Online Services, off the top of my head, it's supposed to be free hosting, but since the anti-cheat shit is allegedly not free. But there's an lot of conflicting info about it

Yeah, it's surprisingly hard to get actual comprehensive pricing information about the entire product suite, especially coming from the same asshole who pitches an endless fit about Valve and their precious 30%. You'd think if his offerings were better and cheaper, he'd be singing it from the rooftops. Funny, that.

Epic's entire documentation is as fucked up as you'd expect. I've found this, which implies that it's free with some bells and whistles attached to an premium service. But i can't find anything else related to it

Because the paid enterprise agreement is likely one of those things that varies based on the revenue they think you can generate along with the price they think you're capable of or willing to pay. Enterprise shit does that all the time because they'll offer cheaper pricing if they think it'll get them a client they wouldn't get otherwrise and wring anyone else dry for everything they think they can get from them. And of course there's any agreements they make with devs like what was it, Alan Wake 2 where Epic funded a few million but the devs couldn't get their share of the revenue split until Epic got their investment back first, so the devs made nothing from it. That and getting devs to sign on for store exclusivity with cash up front also fucks things in the long term because it means initial hype and sales are killed since it's not on Steam or even GOG and then rarely ever made up once the exclusivity ends 1-2 years later. They're predatory as fuck.

And yes it is funny considering that they bitch about Valve, a company that continues to "win" by doing a lot of nothing and just being straightforward about shit.

Is it really that hard to just admit a product is bad? Stephen King has one of the largest egos I've ever seen on a human being and even he admitted the Bachman books and the latter part of the Dark Tower series were shit.

Just take the L dude.

You can instantly spot these idiots (who've only been in the industry for a decade or less) by this expectation of staying employed after shipping a game. It's been an open secret from the mid 2000's that in most game studios, teams are hired/employed (even as "full time salaried" employees) for a single years-long project and then unceremoniously dropped about a week or two after launch, even if the game does gangbusters. Only the newbies are surprised by this.
It’s what way with any entertainment job. In college during a film course the professor told us 9’ day one “this industry involves you getting a job and then once the movie is finished you’re unemployed again.” And it’s definitely held true for every entertainment adjacent job I’ve worked at.
