I understand with the forum situation where all the services, providers, ddos attacks, and so on going on this will likely never have the opportunity to be worked on but I figured I'd post it as a suggested feature incase null, staff, and/or other users think it would be useful.

On other forums I read, within a thread there would be a button along the top of a user's post where it would list meta data information like how this forum has the Datetime, post number, share button, there would be a button, bookmark, and the highlight if highlighted, there would be a "filter" button and it would display all the post by that user in the thread on the page and allow you to browse all the post with no other post showing (except if they had a quote within their post form another user).

Remembering this feature from another forum while browsing large threads in this forum, It made me think of how useful it would be if something like this existed, but instead of filtering the user's post, it filtered and displayed all the highlighted post in a thread.

So instead of reading the 1-3 highlighted post per page before loading the next page when you click the "Go to Next Highlight" (fa-forward) icon, you'd have 20 high lighted post per page load.

I know its not a huge deal when browsing the site at times where the page loads or quick, but given how often the site is attacked and bandwidth/latency is more of an issue it would possibly provide for a better experience if other users often go to larger threads and read only the highlighted post.
Again, I understand its unlikely to be worked on given such higher priority issues going on but I figured its worth posting the idea in case people like it, it'll at least be written some where and maybe added to a "save for later" list. Or maybe go to that Sneedforo project (can't remember the name or if its still being worked on, if it is, please link because I'd like to look at the code for that and see if I could contribute commits).

Tangentially related: I think having a "posts with media" view would be equally as valuable.

Sometimes posts with important screenshots or video clips don't get highlighted for whatever reason. I'll often only see them in a quoted post down-thread, and then have to backtrack to get the full context.

It would be awesome to filter out meandering discussion and just browse the core media content of a thread, especially if you want to "test the waters" of a larger thread without committing the time to fully reading it.

I know Josh said he's not making any further forum interface updates, but like OP said, might as well throw it out there.

That's a great idea. When do you think he'll have the time to do it between everything going on?

I honestly don't know and fully understand if with everything going on with the constant attacks on infrastructure that there may not be any chance for an extended length of time. But I agree with the media filter post RL Steinbeck posted, I've seen that in the same forum that has the filter i mentioned in the OP too and it was extremely useful.

Eagerly awaiting for Null to see this thread, call you a retard faggot and state that he's not going to develop any new features for XenForo because it's Br*tish and they revoked his license for the software.

He should develop a new feature for XenForo that'll add a red banner to this forum telling you to not ask him to develop new features for XenForo.

that'd be a perfectly fair response.

Is there a plan to replace XenForo, or is this gonna be a "Windows 7 forever" situation?

There is, it's called Sneedforo, or Ruforo, but the work on it will continue once Chief Big Dick has free time to work on it, AKA never, because site stability and lawsuits.

Null specifically said he didn't want this when talking about the then-new highlights feature, prime reason being this will create a positive feedback loop when other good but currently un-highlighted posts will never have a chance to surface.

Highlights are for people to catch up with threads, discover new kahntent and new-for-them cows, and not annoy thread regulars with inane questions. It's not a youtube documentary content harverster mode.
