I always found it interesting to watch old news B-Roll footage. To me it seems like a much more authentic representation of history than your normal talking head coverage.
Earlier this week, I was watching this old newsreel B-roll of 1930 French Algeria, the celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the French arrival in Algeria.
The parade and choreographed horse demonstrations have some snippets of candid remarks from people standing behind the camera, but I timestamped this interesting bit where a group of French officers are informally joking around and chatting in Arabic with some of the local Berber or Arab caids.
