History of the World, Part II - From None Of The Guys Who Brought You "Scary Movie"

The sad thing is that the trailer gives off a serious "poor man's Drunk History" vibe to it.

Also, the original HOTW film felt like a bunch of film projects that Brooks wanted to do that he couldn't flesh out to a full length film hobbled together with several sketches to create an anthology.

There really isn’t enough of anything in this trailer to determine whether it’s funny or not, which does bother me somewhat. I liked the joke at the beginning of the trailer.

Thing is, Mel Brooks has produced some absolute classics, but he also made Dracula: Dead and Loving It. He’s not infallible.
If Mel Brooks at his age isn't eating oatmeal for an hour, then being taken to his theater so he can watch old movies and then fall asleep I applaud him for his virality.

Let's be real though even if he's one of the most robust 95 year olds he's still not going to do shit for this show. He's merely producing and signing a contract.

tbh I sorta thought he was dead.
that trailer didn't clarify matters.

This should have never existed.

Getting real tired of overdue sequels and reboots flooding the film industry.

There's such little talent in filmmaking these days that coming up with new properties and unique stories is bordering impossible.

Just as with video games, seems that all the the decent to good things being released are smaller budget to indie titles. Just have to wonder when those will feel the reality of modern creativity too.

I have to be honest anybody who isn't seeing this as absolute garbage is blinded by Mel Brooks nostalgia. This looks and feels like a Seltzer and Friedberg movie for twitter irony leftists.

The thing is, the original had politically incorrect humor that made his movies the classics that they are. This trailer is just cringe-inducing and it seems most of the punchlines will be "look how stupid white men are".

It isn't necessarily an issue with talent outright, its more so film companies and studios don't want to invest money into projects that could potentially fail because they are a gamble. Executives seem to believe old IPs no matter how ancient or irrelevant in the current year will do well compared to fresh new ideas that don't have established fans and audiences.

Since this is a Mel Brooks project there is a chance this may not be all that great in the writing department since while Mel Brooks is a master comedian of the mid to late 20th century there is a possibility the comedy may not be that great since his sense of humor is from an older age and may not potentially land as well in current year.

"Character name?"
"Catchphrase!"
*dies*

His oven dodging pass has finally expired
At his age the only oven he'll get is in a funeral home crematorium. Better he'd carked it a few years ago and died without the indignity of having signed off on this.

iirc he already signed off on Spaceballs The Animated Series
that was so bad it makes Dracula Dead And Loving It look like Young Frankenstein

Looks like they are going to do Jews in Space. We will still need to see Hitler on Ice and a Viking Funeral and at least it won’t be false advertising.
Jews In Space but the Current Year Reboot where it's now all Black Israelites
