Hogwarts Legacy is shaping to be the franchise’s ultimate video game realization, and fans worldwide look forward to the release. The game is less than a month away and is already a massive success on Steam.

The popular PC platform is home to titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Fifa 23. Despite these big games, Hogwarts Legacy is currently at the top spot on Steam’s best-selling games.

This list does not include free-to-play games like CS: GO and Apex Legends. When considering games that need to be purchased, Hogwarts Legacy has pulled ahead of several prevalent games.

While the game is set to release on February 10, 2023, fans can also pre-order the game’s deluxe edition for early access. The early access period begins on February 7, giving deluxe edition owners a three-day head start. Hogwarts Legacy is also available on the Epic Games Store, with a similar early access period.

Hogwarts Legacy promises a unique experience for Harry Potter enthusiasts. The franchise has not seen a major game release for many years, but Hogwarts Legacy aims to change that with a fresh AAA release.

Fans can take on the role of their custom character as they explore the Harry Potter universe. The game includes a vast open world to explore and skills like spells and potion crafting.

PlayStation owners can also enjoy exclusive content that will not be available elsewhere for a whole year. This includes the Hunted Hogsmeade Shop, which comes with the Shopkeeper’s Cosmic set, an extra dungeon, and more.

2023 is packed with exciting releases, and Avalanche Software’s Harry Potter game will be just one of the many exhilarating games this year.

The Steam platform has also seen considerable growth in 2023. It recently saw over 32 million concurrent users, and Hogwarts Legacy appears to have captured a significant chunk of this audience.

For God's sake, please don't pre-order. This is WB, after all, the same publisher that made Gotham Knights. This thing will probably be riddled with microtransactions a few months after release. That said, if it's good after launch, I might buy it.

Alright I will concede he does run away like DSP does when faced with an enemy. It was more that…whenever there was ANY problem it there was always a loop hole, an invisibility cloak, or because “boy-who-lived”. Idk…he reminds me of Drizzt but I tolerate Drizzt better than Harry.

some thing that always got me about the end of the Harry Potter series was that the death of Voldemort was treated as though he were like a Death Star when he died it was literally “Oh, no, all his followers are going to be not powerful anymore” and I always thought that was a little bit dumb because you can’t tell me that an organization that was that vast and that hell-bent on undermining not only the Wizarding World but also aMuggles didn’t have sleeper cells somewhere and there wasn’t somebody who was ready to step into the void that Voldemort left behind if he were ever killed.

I mean, I know she had to end it, but I didn’t think it was going to end quite like that, in Lord of the Rings it was understandable when the tower fell, because it was pretty much explained that that tower was the power cell for all of the armies, but it didn’t seem that way with Voldemort even when he was at his weakest, his death eaters still had power. Every book has the same basic outline: something weird happens to Harry something that makes him special or more special than any of the other children or his friends. Oops something evil is happening. Oh, it turns out it’s Voldemort. Voldemort is foiled again and he wouldn’t have gotten away with it if it weren’t for those meddling kids in Harry Potter. End.
My biggest problem with the series was the event that sets it off in the first place:
Everyone kept saying the reason Voldy's killing curse didn't work on Harry was because Mommy died to save him. But Daddy died trying to save them both first, does his sacrifice mean absolutely nothing?

My biggest problem with the series was the event that sets it off in the first place:
Apparently it's because Daddy was simply killed while Mommy sacrificed herself as part of some "ancient" protective spell she put on Harry, but afaik that's the extent to which it's been explained

nah cmon man
gaming is pretty decent right now
elden ring proved that a good game is still a bigger move than triple A trash with too much UX design and microtransactions
there's a lot of cool games that just came out or are coming out (steam release of DF, hopefully the new STALKER game is good, etc)
and I don't think the success of this game is a bad sign
don't get me wrong I'm sure a lot of the preorders are largely harry potter fans being consumers
and I'm sure another big chunk of those people are just gamers who want the shiny new thing

but I know literally fucking nothing about the series, (ffs I thought Null was the boy who lived)
but the idea of getting to play a game set in a wizard school is pretty appealing
there's a reason people hate the college of winterhold so much (because wizard school = cool fucking idea for a game and it sucked)

if call of duty and battlefield games start getting good user reviews again
that's when I'll start to worry
I think there's more demand for quality in gaming than there used to be
(look at all the shovelware from the late 00s and early 10s)
I’m sure you have made a point somewhere, but I’m unable to find it. Sorry.

Elden Ring was successful based upon its lineage and association with a popular author. People love the Souls games. It managed to attract a new crowd due to the nature of its open world.

The Harry Potter games of the previous generations where you had hackneyed releases alongside their theatrical release sold crazily, despite their dubious quality. That’s the power of a strong IP. You can just release things and print currency. This game is going to sell like absolute crazy despite what troons feel, the quality of the game itself, etc. I would wager that the majority of the troons trying to pan the game for the upvotes on Reddit have secured deluxe preorder copies. They always do.

Every troon that says they’re opposed to this game is full of shit. One of the primary tenants of troonism is to engage in vapid and obsessive consumerism. The vast majority of troons love this shit, too, and they will buy it under the guise of hate which is one of the stupidest things you can do.

Battlefield 2042 is a very bad game. The 2022 releases of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 have been positively received. For what it’s worth, I enjoyed MW2 2022 and Warzone despite being totally jaded on gaming and the battle royale thing.

I haven't engaged in Harry Potter fandom stuff in ages, but I might consider buying the game when it goes on sale after it's released. I still don't understand why people love pre-ordering (even with the tantalising offer of pre-order bonuses) especially after the fiasco that was Cyberpunk 2077.

I would never normally pre-order because I like to wait for things to go down in price. My sole reason for doing so is to stick it to the trannies and I think that is valid.

Is there confirmation that the selection of Witch/Wizard is independent of the body you give your character? I saw articles covering this upthread but they’re dated.
If that’s still the case then all this outrage is performative since the game is still catering to the degenerates.
If that’s not the case then I’ll pick a few copies up for me and some younger siblings who I’m sure will enjoy the game.

Agreed, but the difference being what you said - those games were released at the height of the IP's popularity, coming out when the movies were still being released. We're now what - a decade or so away from them - so I'd imagine there's some understanding that this thing has to stand on it's own two feet, as well as the notion that if it's successful, it'll trigger a new wave of popularity for the franchise. They're likely investing into this game to the same level that they invested into the movies - and hoping like hell that it'll sustain whatever DLC they have in mind after release. Still, nothing's a guarantee anymore, and it could still suck balls.

Saying all this, I've never read the books or watched any of the movies.

Either way would be funny: The developers pretending biological sex doesn't exist and a Witch/Wizard can be both male and female or better have body type 1 or 2 and ruining the game with troon gender bullshit or making Witches female and Wizards male and make the gender loons seethe and screech more.

Either way they apparently do not think non-binary people are valid!
I think "witch/wizard" will decide whether you are referred to as female or male, regardless of how the character looks like. Body types cannot be called "male" or "female" anymore, at least in mainstream titles.

You know gaming is dying when the top selling game is a movie franchise tie-in game for a movie series that ended a decade ago.
1. It's a game about a wizard school. This will always be a sellable concept.
2. The movie series did not "end a decade ago", it exists, it's popular, and children grow up having watched it. Things don't stop existing just because you have consoomed them.
I'm actually amazed no other game company tried an open world Hogwarts RPG set with the MC as a Hogwarts student until now.
The license licence is expensive, and the IP owners must want extra assurance so the game doesn't damage the brand.

I plan to pirate it, but I probably won't buy it. The only thing that would push me over the edge to get a legit copy would be if it includes good modding support. I don't think it includes mod support at all from what I've read, but if they really want to make a ton of money, it should. Harry Potter IP + Morrowind/Skyrim tier modding tools would probably be the best selling game for a decade straight. Even if it sucked at launch, the modders would fix it.

Because gamers along with almost everyone in modern times are dopamine addicts and there's a little tiny chance that maybe just maybe this AAA game will be your next favorite game EVER!

I'm not far better... despite it not even looking that great from the current gameplay I'll likely overpay for Resident Evil 4 Remake. But typing that out makes me realize I should just go back and play the OG release again.

Wasn't Harry Potter RP one of the most popular servers on Garry's Mod, before it got taken down for copyright? I think just the ability to wander around and cast spells probably superseeds the specific IP.

It was, and profitable too as a vast majority of it's players would donate for VIP status on it.

Now that same server has 0-1 players at any given time, because it is not Harry Potter.

Perhaps they'll add the term magician for all the non-binary folks? 🤔
