they need to center it around one of the other schools in the universe, again only speaking as a secondary so maybe im in the minority, but id be more interested in how the rest of the world worked rather than another tour of Hogwarts.
Might be fun for a side mission to see another school, but most fans like Hogwarts and it's sort of the "neutral" school. I doubt as many people would be interesting in the school in Brazil or Africa. On top of that, most schools have retarded demographic, with Beauxbatons being the exception. I wish we actually got more stuff in Hogwarts and the students, classes and professors for the next game, more dynamism with house points too.

If they do a sequel, I’d be fine with them using the exact same map for the school proper, but setting it during a different period and updating the world around it. Set it during WWI and show us what the wizards were doing when the rest of the world burnt down, set it in the 1970’s and show how they coped with the muggles rapidly advancing technology. I’d suggest to have it set during the modern day after the events of the books/movies to show how they responded to smartphones and the internet but with how they portrayed the end of the 19th century, a modern day setting would be horrifying, so I’d rather it be kept as a period piece.

I don't think most Potter fans want that. They want escapism and old fashioned society. The 'contrast with the modern world' leads to all those "what did wizards do before toilets" and "why didn't someone just shoot Voldemort with a gun" stuff. Discussions that are of interest to online hyper-contrarians but not what most people read the novels for. The whole "technology doesn't work on the grounds" thing JK did was a simple and quick way to dismiss all that.

People playing the game I think, mostly want to escape into a world without smartphones. There's a demographic that would find Magic vs. Tech interesting, but most of the fans want Magic > Tech.

Besides, I think it's too late to build realistic consistency into the setting. You have pig-Latin like "Wingardium Leviosa" and wizards being so ignorant of the modern world that they don't know what a dentist or a turnstyle is. The damage is done. Those seeking that sort of exploration should probably read things like Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality.

Their reaction would be the same as when there was a huge technology boom in the 90s when the books are set: They ignored it because they don't see muggles as fellow humans, they see them as children at best and don't care about what they do. Most Wizards don't even know what a gun is.

It'd be stupid to address it because part of the charm of Harry Potter has always been the timeless feeling of it that means it's still relatable to children today since the lack of modern day technology means it's less dated.

Don't forget the old-ass cannon in the Muggle Studies classroom in this game and the wizards are all "hurr durr this is the latest Muggle weapon no idea how those morons can actually carry this around".

I fully expect a trilogy of Hogwarts-set adventures following the main character from 1. It always appeared to me like the year they set it in was very intentionally timed, because in a trilogy scenario, the third game and your character’s final year would just so happen to be Dumbledore’s first year, which they’d likely make a big deal of.

I'm one of those people. I'd like to see it set far into the future. But I'm not a big Harry Potter fan. I can always play a game with those aspects and let the potterheads have their thing.

Leaving aside the nonsense controversy, HL has one of the best environmental designs I have ever seen in a game but everything else about it was painfully generic. Let's hope the sequel can bring all the other elements to the level of the set craftmanship.

You mean the castle, right? Outside of Hogwarts it was as generic as they come with disappointingly little enemy variety or things to see. I'd argue that the broom flying really saves it. It was super fun to drop in and out of the Forbidden Forest at my own leisure.

Meanwhile I actually liked the companion quests.

The castle was really unique, but it was a bit too obtuse for me. I wish we had more quests inside the castle to better learn the layout. Still, the quests in Hogwarts were fun. Hogsmead was very cozy too, it's a shame it was only a quest-giver-town with almost no missions actually inside the village.

Ahhhh. The tranny seething has begun again over HL2's announcement. Beautiful.
Came here to ask how many Kiwi's here would recommend the game or not, and if the modding scene is any good. Is there some Hogwarts Legacy related drama regarding Lambda Fortress or something?

The game is fine. If you like HP you'll probably enjoy it. There's some dumb shit in it, but overall its solid. Dont know about mods, only ever played through the vanilla game.

Anything especially egregious? Beyond the forced in niggery and trannyshit of course.

How much free-roam/Ubisoft fatigue do you have?
It doesn't advance the genre at all and is very standard. I enjoyed the combat and everything involving the school, but when it opens up it becomes a very generic open world game. It's good, not great. The setting/universe carries it a lot.
There is dumb shit in it (like an African lecturing you about how much better their magic is) but it's easily ignored.

I'm gonna admit; the combos were fun.
More if you unlock the unforgivable curses and combo them with other abilities.
I remember killing a lot with Adava Kedabra.

Not really. I think everyone else summed it up pretty well. Expect some faggotry, but the game itself is a pretty bog standard open world game propped up by the HP world. Its worth a play if youre into the setting, and as long as you arent expecting too much you'll probably enjoy it.

Yeah honestly I looked more into the game, this game looks like the worst dogshit game I've ever seen in every aspect except visually, which ultimately means nothing to me. This was the game that people went "yeah man this is a 10/10 game for me" and shit? No wonder it died almost immediately and the drama was pretty much the only thing that kept it in any limelight. I've seen niggercattle call this "everything they wanted in a HP game" (game based in the HP universe rather), if so then you must really fucking hate HP. Not like most of the other games I've seen release that year were any better...God damn 2023 was really bad.

That implies I played any amount of Ubisoft games enough to get fatigue from them. Well, within the last...fuck I can't even remember. I know enough about Goobisoft games to know that the vast majority of them, at least recently, are awful. So if it's anything like those games, which I found out it indeed is, it's not worth even remembering.
