Homeworld series - Epic space battles with ambient-indian accompaniment

95% sure Imogen S'jet is modeled after Sibel Kekili;

Its like they used her as a template then amplified the facial features by 100%.
Meanwhile her erm "adversary" is another africanized mutt, in itself barely a step above the "Black woman with a giant 'fro" they've been shoving everywhere for the last few years. God I have modern character design.
The shit cherry on top is the "bad guy" isnt even a bad guy in the end. She was just lonely and sad so the billions she killed was understandable and because of that gets spirited away into heaven.
Its incomprehensible how horrible the writing is for this and so many other modern games.
According to the review i mentioned earlier, in order to launch campaign in offline mode, you need to go online and log into the hub menu, where you can set the offline mode for the campaign, anything else, skirmish included, requires you to go online into the hub menu.
It does have denuvo or whatever its called.

Boyos prepare yourselfs for one of the worst cutscenes in the history of gaming. If any of you genuinely loved HW1, dont watch this.

Its a testament to the idiocy of modern writers. Too stupid to understand the hiigarans where the character in HW1.
I grew up loving these games as a kid, and to see it crash and burn this hard after DoK gave me some hope just sucks.

It's really obvious what they changed if you compare side profiles: They added a significant brow ridge (the kind you normally see on archaic hominids or English ruby players), and made the nose shorter and stubbier. Said brow ridge is probably the worst offender in her design and directly leads to the tranny and Bogdanoff jokes.

lol Sweet Baby Inc strikes again...and a community manager drags more attention to a shitstorm
Jannies behaving as jannies do is hardly evidence that SBI had a hand in the game:
Homeworld 3 is published by Gearbox, developer of the woke series Borderlands and the labelled origin of that Steam moderator. Like with Spider-Man and Insomniac, I really don't think blame has to be on some third-party. Also needs reminding that SBI is not the be-all end-all, but rather simply one of many identically-woke consultants infesting the industry.

Really? You can't imagine that the jannie would behave in draconian fashion simply out of allegiance to woke ideology and contempt towards its critics? I assure you that she'd do the exact same thing if the thread instead asked about Anita Sarkeesian, GaymerX, I Need Diverse Games, or any other woke consultant out there.

I like some of the ship designs like the HW3 Hiigaran battlecruiser. But it looks more like a contemporary aircraft carrier to me with the flat top it has.

Would also hesitate to call basic fighters "recon" because that implies they are like an AWACS when the combat is not that in depth in HW3.

Jannies behaving as jannies do is hardly evidence that SBI had a hand in the game:
I wouldn't be surprised if they were a friendly consultation - to which I mean, they have friends in SBI and that always influences your design choices - given that the lead writer(?) seems to follow them and they follow back. This entire industry is so fucking incestuous it makes the Hapsburgs look healthy.

The Mandalore review is up, he shits on it and the story to the point of being glad he stopped playing it

Of course, the fun part is all the people pointing out DEI consulting forms and all the commies being mad people are noticing
The plot is literally The Force Awakens meets Steven Universe. The heroine is the special one daughter of the woman tron the previous game and makes it to her position for no apparent reason. Everything is centred around her.
She battles space hitler but because it's a woman she gets redeemed despite literally killing trillions.

And everything is so fucking ugly. Niggers and ugly women should be a meme on how to recognise shitty games.

Remember, this man has played Ring, Mystery of the Druids, and Limbo of the Lost. But Homeworld 3 was so bafflingly stupid he broke down and started laughing like a crazy person mid review.

Saw the pop-up when i was in work, i just watched it full. Damn, Mandy took some sweet time with this one.

I was afraid he would go easy on it, but he rightfully pointed out all the problems the game have: the retarded story (i liked the comment about the narrative being at a level of a shitty VN), ship scaling problems (which STILL doesn't work properly), design flaws (Mothership being faster then the rest of the fleet, Battlecrusiers being weak, no modules and strong points, no unit abilities toggle), technical issues (pathfinding is STILL a problem, especially with the changes to the formation and stances, inability to change elevation) as well as, and I was gratefull that he pointed that out, because, apart from the few negative comments on Steam, no one seems to noticed it: the music is way more ambient, without any instrumental leads, which makes it lethargic, uninspiring and unremarkable, making it blend with the battle sounds. And it is quite baffling, because this, coupled with the fact, that at least half of the HW3 Soundtrack is composed of remixes of earlier HW tracks - especially from Deserts of Kharack - points out to the fact that Ruskay either had no time to create a brand, new soundtrack, or stopped caring along the way, which is even more distressful, when you watch this Adagio for Homeworld video, from two years ago, when he speaks all passionately about recreating the iconic track for HW3 and how music is so important to this series (fun fact - the new version of Adagio for the Strings - slightly different from the one from the first gameplay trailer - is NOT part of the official HW3 soundtrack due to the copyright issues lol). Was he lying through his teeth back then, or did he lost the will or inspiration somewhere, during those two years?

With the datamining (mentioned earlier) finding the traces of the original, campaign video files, being completely different from the shitshow we got and the confirmation of the SBI like consultation groups being part of the project, it is safe to say that the entire story has been rewritten in 80-90% at least a year before the launch, to accomodate the stunning and brave ideas of moden storywriting - incessant repetitions of already stated informations and some "profound" statements, without proper explanation what they mean, things happening out of blue without proper explanation, being forgotten after mission or two, main antagonist being a spergy, whiny bitch, failing completely at trying to be this intimidating, all-powerful antagonist, with unexplained control over hyperspace, telepathically calling Imogen for emotional gorl-talks.
Mandy also points out to the relation between Imogen and Karan, how it is strange and out of place - a mythical, immortal messiah-figure, which is Karan, chilling on the planet's surface with "some" grandaughter of S'Jet Kith'Sa - especially that Homeworld mobile established that Karan became sort of a recluse after HW2 and it was extremely difficult to get in touch with her.

Also, previous Homeworld titles implied, that becoming Unbound was a one way ticket - you couldn't just disconnect and reconnect from being a living CPU, that is why becoming one was called a sacrafice and why the other Unbound - the Bentusi, were so afraid of the Beast - because they were bound to their ships and they couldn't just disconnect and run away.
As if it wasn't obvious enough, the people who wrote HW3 story had not played any of the games before and just read the wiki - hence the passing analogy to the Incarnate fanaticism mirroring that of the Galsien.
Very telling that HW3 didn't had a lead writer, just this loose group of progressive tards, which David J. Williams - lead writer for DoK, failed miserably to wrangle.
Shame on you David, you signed your name under this project and i hope it will haunt you for the rest of your life.

And with that, I end my autistic sperging. This game wonderfully encapsulates most problems with the modern gamedev and shows that old series, especially from the less-popular genres, should be left the fuck alone, lest they will be twisted and warped beyond recognition adopted to modern standards.

I sincerly hope this game will ultimately flop and become a financial burden for Gearbox way down the line. Even if Blackbird will be closed down because of this, at this point, it won't be a big loss - Hardspace: Shipbreaker situation showed that the rot settled in much earlier and Homeworld 3 simply confirmed that whatever is left of creative talent in the studio, it has no say in the final design.

I knew something was wrong with these devs the moment I learned the Homeworld remakes didn't allow for rebinding the escape and mouse keys.

The best part was the project director telling the writing lead to put a human face on everything.

That's probably one of the most profound moments in Homeworld 1 when you're on mission 4 and the Bentusi make their first appearance to trade with the mothership. The writing is so subtle but you can tell the Bentusi have little regard to the Ambassador ship and instead see the Ambassador ship as an extension of Karan, who is now just like the Bentusi. Such good scifi writing that makes commentary on the human condition.

Homeworld 3 is the polar opposite of that artful writing.

They utterly missed the fundamental aspect of story telling in the original HW; the main character was the entire race of Hiigarans(and other races in general), not any one particular person with secondary characters being your ships.

I dont think we can ever have anything truly great and memorable again. Too many endless retards running things and too many retard blind consoomers gobbling up whatever the retards running thing shit at. Great example is the Homeworld subreddit. Reddit soycucks crying about muhsogeknee at the people pissed off at the DEI shitshow HW3 is. Saying fans of a game whose only named character is a woman, a game where the focal point of it, the mothership is basically a giant metaphor for a pregnant woman.

We just cant have nice things anymore.

I was a $1000 Fig backer. I played the original Homeworld when I was nine.

I don't understand. Deserts of Kharak wasn't dog shit. HW3 had no reason to be inferior to it in any respect.

I waited twenty years. For this.
Now i know, that it is not my business to tell you what to do with your money, but what made you drop a whole grand on a vidya game? Like, i understand dropping hundred or two, to show your appreciation for the creators and the series, but dropping entire grand is like Star Citizen lv of infatuation/obsession/retardation, like, that's a little too much.

Little more than pure nostalgia. The original Homeworld meant a lot to me.

It was the late nineties, and I was sitting in front of an old Trinitron monitor, with a rig with a Voodoo2 card, and those damn Turanic Raiders showed up and that soundtrack and shit started playing, and I got chills. I’d never quite seen anything like it in a game before. It was like a movie. The ship designs were so cool.

After Deserts of Kharak, I was sure that Blackbird basically had this in the bag, that there was no way they could squander any contribution I made. I was wrong. Dead wrong.

I have absolutely no fucking clue how things could get this bad in the first place. What do these companies stand to gain from this ESG bullshit? Consumers pretty much invariably despise it. Who the hell do they think their audience is? In the case of HW3, those datamined cutscenes showed that they completely changed everything about the game and the whole goddamn premise from early previews to release. It’s practically false advertising.

I’m not spending one red cent on any more Kickstarter anything. Period.
