Horrible yet uncanceled - Shows that Just. Don't. Stop.

I was a huge Supernatural fan way back in the day, but I started losing interest around season six, and I don't think I finished seven. Apparently it didn't finish until season fifteen.

I really enjoyed the urban legends when they were still doing that, but the Christian mythology just dragged and dragged, and Castiel was vastly over used.

In the 90’s SS was no longer the most popular show and shows like Barney and the Teletubbies were more popular.
During the 90s and 2000s, Barney and Teletubbies were like the Minions a decade later. They were both more popular than Sesame Street, but not in the same vein as these two were easily hated upon, and for good reason too. Both of them were mocked for being too creepy and sugar-like for younger children.

You could say the same thing about Cocomelon and Paw Patrol.

It also relied on celebrity guests to promote the show.
It used to actually produce celebrities instead of that. Like Giancarlo Esposito who ended up playing Gus Fring.
A lot of people give Sesame Street a pass because they don’t think that children’s entertainment doesn’t get stale because there is always a new cohort of children coming around.
I grew up on that shit when it was still good. I'd always watch Sesame Street, Electric Company, and even Villa Allegra, which taught me whatever Spanish I have that isn't profanities and obscenities. And Mr. Rogers. There is no Mr. Rogers in current year and that is at least one major part of why this world is currently shit.

Do kids even watch Paw Patrol? All I associate it with is middle aged pedophile scat fetishists like Jin.

But the difference in SS’s quality from the 70’s to today is a night and day difference. Early SS never talked down to its audience while SS in recent decades is dumbed down.

I think the change was due to trying to maintain relevance. In the 90’s SS was no longer the most popular show and shows like Barney and the Teletubbies were more popular. SS started making more infantile content to maintain the relevance they once had. It worked, despite the obvious downgrade noticed by older fans. It also relied on celebrity guests to promote the show. Needless to say, by the 2010’s, it was nothing but marketing that was keeping the show relevant. HBO bought it, and today it is nothing but a brand.
And let's see how they'll doing with their newest attempt to get SS still relevant with Sesame Street: Life on the Street.

My kids like it a fair amount. They also watch Cocomelon and, honestly, that's not a bad edutainment show. It's certainely FAR less "diabetes suggary sweet" cutesy than other toddler shows like Bebefin and Little Thomas. The songs aren't actively annoying at the very least. Little Baby Bum isn't too bad either in terms of content, just has Reboot level animation that legit looks 15 years out of date.

With that title, we better get a Muppet version of Richard Belzer solving "letter of the day" crimes.

"Do you know what else starts with the letter N? It's what I call people like our prime suspect on the internet!"

My bothers and sisters in Christ, how is Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged is still going in the year of our Lord and Savior 2023? A couple of nights ago, a recent episode got recommended to me, and I was still surprised that it's somehow alive. When I stopped watching, it was because the quality was starting to dip, and this was more than 10 years ago.

I'm always surprised when it pops up in my sub feed. I could've sworn I unsubscribed years ago.
