Horrible yet uncanceled - Shows that Just. Don't. Stop.

Arsenio Hall's new talk show has been on for a week and three days. It needs to be stopped right now :/ His sketches are so lame.

For me, I'm okay with Family Guy. At least for the first few seasons.

Same here, but to a much lesser extent (It's not as funny after the first time, but at least the animation not as crappy then as it is now).

As for the post-cancellation seasons... Don't think I need a reason, do I?

Might as well also throw in American Dad into the foray. I mean it has almost the same season count as FG. I mean it could have just been five-six seasons and stopped right there.

You have Family Guy, which is now the "Religion & Politics Soapbox Show", then you have American Dad which is Family Guy only with different characters, and then the short lived Cleavland Show which was Family Guy with black people...in the south. I used to not think of it but the T.V. critics of FG from long ago (when they were accusing FG of being a Simpsons copy) were right, Seth really does lack any originality and just either copies something else or copy and pastes his idea over and over again.

The first three seasons were good, the post cancellation episodes were ok, they still get a few chuckles out of me, but I have never really watched FG as regularly as I did The Simpsons, Futurama and South Park, Hell I used to watch Drawn Together more regularly than FG.

I don't really keep up with too much TV anymore, but I'm glad that The Office ended when it did. I felt that it just wasn't as funny without the Michael (Steve Carrell's) character. It was still funny, but just not as good.

But I see a lot of hate here for Family Guy, and I wholeheartedly approve. I never saw the appeal of that show when it was new and I still can't. I can see why Chris loves it. :alog:
I was really annoyed at some of the plot threads in the last season. "Hey, let's do another love triangle arc and make Andy a jerk again!".

I haven't watched television in years, but that's because it became mush. I would watch FOX News and MSNBC because I enjoyed seeing the discrepancies in how they reported things, the different ways in which they'd word headlines, and what they would and would not give air time to. Despite the overwhelming popular opinion of everyone that has accessed a keyboard and the Internet, MSNBC had some integrity and I enjoyed Keith Olbermann's well worded rants and diatribes, even if he did try way too hard to be John Stewart. Olbermann was best when he was having an orgasm with a dictionary and talking about interesting things you didn't hear much about. However, when the same company that owns FOX News bought MSNBC they fired him due to some weird clause in his contract -- probably just to get rid of him and be replaced with a human/sloth/gorilla hybrid creature that is supposed to be the Far Left Just-as-Stupid version of Bill O'Reilly.

More on topic, I love documentaries. My favorite show that aired on MSNBC was Lockup: Raw, which is wildly successful for what it is. Basically giving cameras and putting filming crews in prison to get the daily depiction of what the american justice system is. I don't have a really keen eye but the god damn thing is so real and the way these people act and are encouraged to behave by society and negative reinforcement is fucking fascinating. On the opposite end of the spectrum is now everything put out by the Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, and (bless its heart) the History Channel. Triple "fuck you" points to anything involving a swamp or people of an unfashionably low IQ. Sextuple "fuck you" points to anything involving both.

My personal hypothesis on why TV sucks so much is this: the Internet is now the medium of choice for people who like to know things and who like to do research. TV is left over for mindless entertainment, particularly for stupid people. That's why they fill it up with shitty documentaries about gator chasers and that fucking stupid fat kid that goes to beauty pageants. Dumb, mindless animals like to see even dumber and more mindless creatures to make themselves feel better.

I remember when somebody told me I'd like the Big Bang Theory.

So I was watching an episode and noticed these "tech savvy geeks" were using Macs and iPads.

And I was like; "Nope."

That was at the beginning of the series. Now reading what you guys have been posting I'm glad I didn't see any of the later episodes.

It doesn't appeal to nerds. It appeals to douchebags who think "nerd" or "geek" is synonymous with "intelligent" so they pretend to coopt themselves into our culture and sperg everything up by being a bunch of faggy hipsters.

Put that shit down like a lame horse.

Also, Two and a Half Men. It was never funny. The only plot was "Charlie Sheen is a manwhore" and, "His brother is a spineless wuss who can't get laid so when he does it's so shocking" and "The kid is fat and awkward but doesn't realize it."

Teen Titans GO!

Nah, jk.

I'd say really anything that airs on CBS, because they only ever air the most generic, lowest common denominator crap you could imagine.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia might be my favorite sitcom, but the past season indicated to me that it needs to be put down. I can appreciate that the writers (notably not the original RCG team) are branching out and trying new things like the cliffhanger for season 12, but it just doesn't seem appropriate for that show. Part of the appeal is that it never changed in the decade or so that it ran; the idea of Dennis leaving or some other major upheaval is bizarre to me.

Days of our lives has gotta go. My Mom liked it but it was fun back then.

They renewed it for another season this year.

I just don't get it either. I guess when there's nothing else on you just sit there like a zombie watching Survivor. You'd think the excitement of "next time on Survivor" would have worn out long ago.

I can't believe The Simpsons is still running. I tried watching it again a few years ago and it was like being stuck in the 90s. It was too weird. Family Guy needs to go way more though. Every season has a few god episodes and the rest is complete garbage. There's nothing new for them to do. The characters keep doing the same stupid stuff. Peter does something retarded, douchebag liberal prius driving dog and sexually confused baby go on an adventure, Meg is the family punching bag ect...

Just put a fork in it already. It's been done for years.

IASIP has been in on a major decline since, about... season 8. Season 10 was in particular a pretty huge nosedive ("Charlie Work" being an exception, of course). At that point each character had devolved into a caricature, especially Dennis, who's insecurities used to be pretty cleverly hidden, but now seem to be opportunity to bring out a forced rant every episode. Season 11 fared a little better, but I hated how it forced secondary characters down our throats that just weren't that funny or interesting, such as Bill Ponderosa and the McPoyles. I haven't watched Season 12, but I have a pretty good feeling on how it's going to turn out. It really is a shame, because seasons 2-7 was some of the best comedy on television ever.

Agree wholeheartedly. I've never been a huge fan of the side characters on the show, and the heavy focus on them in the past few seasons has been very rough. I do think there have been some great episodes in the later seasons, but they're the episodes that focus on the main cast like "Charlie Work," "Mac and Dennis Move to the Suburbs," and "The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award."
