The Scream franchise itself, I didn't care for the first film in part because it felt like there was a bit of a self-congratulatory tone to it on Craven's part, but besides that it spawned yet another franchise where the returns diminish with each new entry, like Scream 6 which stars some of the most unlikable, charmless young actors and actresses out there now, these are "stars" who wouldn't pass muster appearing as background extras in really low-budget locally produced commercials, much less a film.

Oh god, that movie sucked dick. The attempts at comedy really fucking hurt that one. And you can see the Blumhouse influence in that absolutely retarded non-ending and the jump scare that makes ZERO sense whatsoever.

That all said: it does have some really good gore sans the CGI ants and I appreciate that they cast real actual natives. Most amusing anecdote is that Roth and his crew dragged a generator to the jungle and showed the natives Cannibal Holocaust to try to explain to them what they were going for. And the natives laughed their asses off. They thought it was a comedy. After showing the movie a little kid comes up to Roth and talks about the comedy film where they killed a turtle.

I'm just going to say: I would watch a remake of The Baby (1973) if it was directed by Rob Zombie. I'm not even really a fan of his but Rob could make something really twisted with that concept and I'd pay to see that. Same applies if Rob Zombie could remake a favorite of Adam Lanza which is the infamous TV movie Bad Ronald. Yeah, the Sandy Hook shooter was a big fan of that one. Go figure?

It's because Eli Roth is a complete talentless schizfag who really has an unhealthy religious obsession over a 1980 Italian found footage horror movie. Sure, Cannibal Holocaust is a classic for sure, but the unhealthy religious obsession over it is fucking creepy, like an actual /pol/ tourist posting his schizo rants in other boards

I waited for someone to post something so I can't be accused of triple posting. In the tradition of OTT gory slashers here's the Irish-as-fuck Stitches (2012 and it's NOT the Full Moon movie) which is a really fun killer clown movie that was very overlooked. It could be considered "That other gory killer clown flick from the 2010's that's not Terrifier." Yeah, there's more than a couple. Another one I can think of is 100 Tears which is from around 2005 or something. But I digress:

Fun killer clown movie. Really good gore. Pacing takes A WHILE until the clown does his business. I liked the comedy but your mileage may vary. But we're here for the kills and they are good and bonus points to the filmmakers for making the kills clown-related. I could only sell it to you based on this one particular kill:

Not only that, but the lead kid is a fucking dead ringer for Jimmy Carr. I'm surprised they never brought it up on a panel show.

@BrunoMattei I do have some Irish but I'm predominantly English. Well culturally speaking at least, I have no clue genetically (one Irish great grandparent, but even they have a double barreled name so who the fuck knows). I like a hell of a lot about Stitches (Ross Noble is probably the biggest), it's inarguably a really fun watch. But comedy horror, even at its best, isn't really my bag.

Also the cat scene is irritating! Like I can forgive goofy special effects, but they didn't even try with that part. He's clearly just thrashing a stuffed cat around. I'd say it's a nitpick, but it's like a really long scene! Like the effects aren't ever trying to be super realistic, obviously, but that just crossed the line from goofy to stupid, and it just goes on and on (nine lives!). Like if the cat was integral to his death or if there was some slapstick in the kill then maybe. Still that's a minor quibble in an otherwise great and fun film.

If we're going Irish comedy horrors, though, it's Grabbers and Boys from County Hell for me. Boys has just enough broodiness for me, and Grabbbers they win by drinking.

Although I always have to put Isolation (2005) at the top, because even though it wasn't meant as a horror comedy, it's funny as fuck.
 
Just came back from Thanksgiving...

Overall: 7/10.

Roth's best film since Hostel 2. Not an extremely high bar to pass but I thought I'd mention that. Very funny. Good gore. But it pussied out in a few places:

THERE IS NO TRAMPOLINE CUNT STAB GORE GAG

As a result I had to deduct 2 points and I think that's fair all things considered. No blowjob gore gag either. The characters are 2-dimensional and paper thin stereotypes but they were so cliché that I was honestly thinking that Roth was going for a Starship Troopers thing. And maybe he was?

The ending sucked as well. The feast from the Grindhouse trailer is there but the movie does not end there. Which is a shame. It unfortunately suffers from just going on way too long. And I get it because he already showed the good shit in the trailer so he had to one-up himself but honestly it should have ended at the feast scene. That would have been fine. Send the audience home happy. We are good. Also, another point deduction for this, WAYYYYYY too many characters are alive by the end and that honestly surprised me.

Good gore.

One of the better mainstream comedies to come out in the last few years.

It's a proper Thanksgiving slasher. We finally got one. But by the same token I treat this as a lesser entry. It is -for the time being- the best Thanksgiving horror film but I think there's room for at least one or two more that go even farther with it ala Silent Night Deadly Night.

Woke shit/gay shit:

Black guy lives in the end. I know. It's a terrible shame.

Unlike previous Eli Roth films no one say's "gay" or "fag" or any of the fun words. This is as close as woke as Roth has gotten.

That's it. I wouldn't say this is pozzed.

A movie that was fucking abysmal but for some reason lives in my head rent free is Blood Harvest. Tiny Tim as a clown but not the killer. It was so bad but had such a charm to it that I can't help but love it.
