Interesting premise for a slasher that I admit I wanted to make myself. Although, this has been done before with Angst (1983) where you are with the killer the entire time without any cutaways at all to other characters.
Update: this is getting a theatrical release in May and later this year will be on (of course) Shudder.

Never got that one. What was in that potion she drank that made her vampire-like?

The idea is that the Grandma comes from a line of Demon/Succubus creatures.

Idk if Ghostbusters fits this thread since its not a horror movie but it is a comedy with horror like elements but I'd argue that the first two movies had enough unsettling and creepy elements and moments that more than earn its spot in the genre.

Either way, I have seen Frozen Empire and I have to say, despite some legit good moments, I had a concerning realization....Its too late. Its too late to just bring this franchise back and just have movies again like we didnt have decades of constant problems to just get Ghostbusters 3 out. Afterlife isnt even THE Ghostbusters 3, its a legacy type movie that is having to write around Harold Ramis's death. Afterlife was alright for what it was but it felt more like a small town spin off of Ghostbusters instead of an actual new entry in the main series, even if the idea that Egon just straight up left NY and going to bum's fuck nowhere AND having a family (which, to be fair, he didnt seem against it, just seemed very "clinical/scientific" about it) with someone we never met in the movies (I remember how pissed Ghostbusters 2 made fans by not having Egon and Janine ending up together like the first one was implying).

I guess when I watched Frozen Empire is where I truly realized things just cant never be the same again, not even in a Ghostbusters 2 sort of way, too much time has passed (I pin a good chunk of the blame on Bill Murray, he is cool to watch but a bitch to work with) and I guess most have collectively moved on from Ghostbusters (while treasuring the originals). Frozen Empire is like bringing the band back, minus a member, with new blood and similar material...and you as a fan seeing that even with them doing their best, its just not the same anymore. Maybe its you, maybe its them...oh hell, it is them but still.

Im ok with the movies stopping here and thats it, I even dare say its a good note to end on.

No offense, but I'm sick of dudes blaming Bill Murray for "Ruining muh Ghostbusters 3!" You and everyone saying this is simply assuming it would have been good. Who is to say it wouldn't have been just as bad as 2 or possibly as bad as the remake? Dan Akroyd ran out of ideas at movie 2, what makes you think he would suddenly have divine inspiration for a part 3?

I say good for Bill Murray for saying no to do a shit film and he only did the remake because Sony forced him (as per the leaked emails) and Afterlife and this turd out of a favor to old friends essentially. I wouldn't be surprised if he was officially done with the franchise now.

It did have interesting ideas, more interesting than Goozer again or some ice ghost. The cartoons and comics did show you can do a lot with this concept.

I'm not saying it would have been great undoubtedly but having the cast on their relatives prime would be easier to digest than them being old and missing a member. Also, I say this because it's an objective fact Murrey can be rather difficult to work with, he has a very "my way or the highway" style that can be charming if you are meeting him in a party but it can be hell if you are tard wrangling him. Also let's not exactly act like Murray never said yes to dumbass movies...

I think the biggest issue for G2 was its world building and character development being completely fucked by having ghosts just not appearing anymore and everyone just forgets the Ghostbusters in just a couple of years. The villain was threatening and we just had to accept it was hard to top Goozer in terms of existential threat but, for what it was, he was still good. Ghostbusters 2 had some "SW prequels" effect where people did learn to see its goods for what they are instead of just focusing on the bad.

Ghostbusters 2' problem is that it was just a rehash of the original with moments and hints of something that could have been more. It's carried entirely by those moments and the chemistry among the cast. But objectively speaking, not a good movie or sequel.

With Bill, I don't know. There's shit like this:

The set reports do not conflate with the numerous public interactions he's had that were not staged in any way. There's not a single story of Bill being an asshole to random people. So, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here. My hypothesis is that either (A) he's bipolar or (B) he simply hates Hollywood types which is more than understandable...

I personally see that game that came out years ago as Ghostbusters 3. It had a good feel to it, so I'll just leave it at that. Really when you think about it Ghostbusters gave us a lot of material and lore with the cartoon and the comics. I happy with that too. You can only do so much before it gets old.

Nigga, who the fuck talks about Herk Mondo? WTF? You are the first guy. Seriously, I've been on Alien and Predator message boards and NO ONE EVER FUCKING TALKS ABOUT HERK MONDO? Oh my god, what are you you insane and beautiful retard?
It's like saying your favorite superhero is blue beetle. Nobody gives a shit about Jaime Reyes.

I was browsing Tubi and just noticed this:

The selection of wop slop available is fucking magical. If I had access to this much shit instantaneously as a kid I would have lost my god damn mind.

It is good that the Ghostbusters 3 Ackroyd was desperately attempting to get made through the 1990s wasn't made. I have a feeling it would make Ghostbusters 2 look like great in comparison. It was a close thing, even by 1998 apparently the studio and Ackroyd thought it was going to happen. (That scene in Ghostbusters 2 where Ackroyd and Hudson have hired out to caper around at kid's birthday parties in Ghostbusters costumes was a preview of what Ackryod's career would be like by the year 2000)

From what I've heard, the plot concept they'd been working with before Sony ended up pulling the plug was that Venkman was out (Bill Murray didn't want to come back) and Zeddmore had long since headed for the hills (as fast as Ernie Hudson could run), so Stantz and Spengler retire to desk jobs, putting out the call for a new team of recruits - and while the casting was in flux, they were seriously considering Chris Farley and Chris Rock. Maybe Chris Tucker. At least get one black actor to play a fast-talking black Ghostbuster.

Among the other factors which lead to Sony pulling the plug, supposedly, was the failure of Blues Brothers 2000, Ackroyd's other attempt at turning a past project into a franchise he could milk. Everyone gave up on GB3. Most of Ackroyd's script was surreptitiously recycled into Reitman's "Evolution", with the ghosts rewritten as aliens, and from the looks of the film (and the spin-off cartoon and the shameless trademark-pimping of the three-eyed-smiley face logo as seen in the movie), Reitman genuinely believed this was going to be his next new 'Busters franchise for the 2000s. The "new recruits" angle was recycled for the Extreme Ghostbusters cartoon and that, for a while at least, was that.

Saw that piece of shit (on a school trip iirc) but I never knew it was a recycled GB3 script. :story:

Most recent tubi hits: Robowar, Starcrash, Astro-Zombies, Evils of the Night, Incredible Melting Man, Angst

Just got back from seeing Late Night With the Devil. Pretty straightforward and a bit too on the nose, no surprises but fun movie.

I'm a sucker for this type of gimmick and saw it on release. Honestly, solid movie and goes right on a Halloween movie watch list. My only complaint was the ending which is a little cliche, but otherwise a really solid movie leading up to it. The entire the middle 1/3 of the movie is really solid.
