low overhead. these people arent punished when they make shitty videos, because the worst that could happen is that nobody watches or someone in the comments insults them. the editing tools are too easy to use, they literally will cut in the middle of a sentence to the next shot so they dont have to even be able to read their lines. if youtube charged 20 bucks per video upload, i wonder what it would look like.
