How are you doing? - Kiwi Farms Wellness Check

My whole life, I've been an atheist. However, lately I think I'm finally on the verge of religious conversion. I was a little reluctant to bring this up on KiwiFarms of all places, but I decided, "Why not?" Perhaps all the religious studies I do have finally caught up with me. I don't see it as a bad thing either. I don't care if other people want to be atheist, but I've come to my own personal conclusion that life as an atheist felt empty. But that's going to change!

It's not anyones business or problem what you choose to believe in, but with how god awful the world is. The belief in a god is a bit peculiar.

It's gods will to let troons diddle with our children!

Moving back to the US in a couple of weeks. Wife's a foreign national, so she's excited. Been out of China many times with her, but never to live somewhere else. As much as I hate chinks I fear I may hate niggers more. I've been out of the states for nearly a decade at this point, so things have changed quite a bit. When I left Obama was president. Goodbyes are soon, they will be hard. Moving will be simple by comparison.

It will be good to not be an expat anymore, but I worry that I have separated myself from the herd to the point where I'll never really be 'American' and instead just be a foreigner everywhere.

where are you moving to? many of the liberal cities are bad but the more rural areas should be fine. Bigger cities may be ok if you stay in the rich districts.

A liberal city, unfortunately. We'll be in a good neighborhood, but obviously there's limits on what wealth can do when the government is so treacherous and insane.

I understand. The world IS awful and there's no denying that. My choice is strictly a personal one that makes sense to me. I have no intention of trying to sperg about religion here on KiwiFarms or even offline because whether you have a religion or not is up to you, not me.

When I see how disgusting people can be to each other, regardless of which ideology they follow or walk of life they're from, it always made me wonder how there could be any higher power when there's so much evil and suffering in the world. Despite that, I've reached my own conclusions based on my personal experiences and years of religious studies. I never thought this day would come, yet here I am. I'll leave it as that: It's a personal choice and one that I'm comfortable with.

@Nick Obre I understand why you think it's dumb, but that's okay. No hard feelings!

Because it is dumb. I don't know on what basis you were an atheist before, but now you're changing your personal philosophy and accepting claims about the nature of existence as true based on "it felt empty.

But that said, don't let me turn this thread into a classic fedora flame war. I'll shut up.

Feeling empty is my short summary, but not the whole story. There are more reasons besides that, but I don't want to turn this into my personal blog or make long essays explaining myself. Honestly, this isn't something I would want to fight with you about. It's not worth it. We can agree to disagree and leave it at! :)

I can see why people would turn more to religion in these times. Because, historically. People have turned to religion when there is crisis and everything feels hopeless.

Regardless of how people feel, it is 100x times better than people trooning out. Because wokeness is basically the same thing as what missionaries did. Just swap religion with leftist propaganda.
If it makes you happy, great! You are hurting no one.

Some time back I gave an ultimatum to try to get a promotion. Apparently they actually gave me it instead of telling me to fuck off. I don't plan to ever do that again, though, as I think it's something you can only ever get away with once. It completely changes my feelings about going back, I think that in the work I wanted I'll be able to muddle along much better. It's a lot more heavy of duties, too, but more useful to my career. I actually feel excited about going back.

I wholeheartedly agree with you! This is strictly a pesonal choice. I won't be debating religion with anyone here because I really don't think it's worth it. My beliefs are my own.

One final note on this matter: Believe it or not, I'm not a Christian or Muslim. However, I'm happy to discuss this privately if you'd really like to know! Either way, I'm not weaponizing my beliefs or ever going to force them anyone. :)

The risk is you may now be first on the list in the event of a downturn and marked as "not a team player" This is why I suggest that people who have a new job lined up never take the counter-offer as it can be risky for the future.

Congratulations on the promotion and all the extra work you'll now have to do :)

My car is getting fixed this week, I'll be calling on it wendsday to see how it's doing. So I'm excited.

One of my nephews is also getting into pokemon cards, and his parents are supportive and know of their value, so I'm feeling like a uncle really and going to be helping him, probably build a deck of my own and play with him. It's what I can do rn, so I'm happy to be the uncle he needs.

Why would Demiurge (snake with lion's head, gnostic imperfect impostor God who seeks to replace the real God) commend him for not cooming?
