How can communist mentality be reversed?

It can't. As long as you have disenfranchised and resentful people as a consequence of natural inequality, communism will always exist, even under a different name as it has for millenia (think of the populares in Rome for example). Especially if your society was dumb enough to sign its own death sentence by introducing universal sufferage.

1. Circumstances. Many people identifying as commies nowadays are younger. I swear, I saw this woman in her early 20s with a Mao Zedong sticker on her laptop. I hope she was just joking. Once these young people are thrown in the real world, they'd realize these dreams for a perfectly equal state are nothing but the idealistic musings of a fool stuck in a childish dream.
2. Personal choice. This is for people who are so deep in denial that there is no such thing as pure equality in nature as a whole and there will always be someone fitter, stronger, smarter, or with more and that communism will still have some greedy fuck behind it. It's their choice to accept the hard truth at their pace or live in denial with their childish fairy tale.
