How can I wake up earlier in the morning?

Sometimes I'll randomly wake up early in the morning but usually I sleep until like 40 minutes before work and rush to get out the door. I try to set my alarm earlier but I just wake up and automatically hit snooze without any conscious thought.

How can I start waking up earlier?

Solution
Try thinking about your morning plan, the night before. Not stressing yourself out about how you have to stick to a timeline, more a musing on how you're going to wake up at X and then you can sit at the table and drink your coffee. Or properly cook eggs, or do some stretches, or read a chapter, or whatever semblance of a morning routine appeals to you. Make it something you're looking forward to; you're not going to fix your life by waking up earlier, but you're going to do something nice and have a less stressful morning.

And yeah, alarm across the room. I stopped using my phone for a morning alarm because I'm clumsy when I'm asleep and I didn't want to keep dropping it. Plain old alarm clock is cheap and easy. A...

You can also try set multiple alarms, one to warn you you're about to get up and then a few more to actually get you up if you hammer through them.
Improving your sleep in general helps too; exercising more during the day, eating and drinking well, sleeping earlier, etc.
