The left "can't meme" for the same reason it can't do comedy anymore. Leftists dominate mainstream culture and power structures to a staggering degree. Any attempt at being funny from a leftish political perspective is essentially doing the same thing as Stephen Colbert ranting and sucking Blackrock's dick. All right-wingers have to do is be subversive which is why they have short, succinct memes; they aren't trying to desperately defend a decomposing political order.

The problem with the left's jokes and memes is their struggle with the "punching up" vs "punching down" dichotomy. Mainly, there is no acceptable definition of either.

You can't talk shit about any historically marginalized group (a slippery definition on its own), unless someone from that group is rich or "privileged" in some other nebulous way. But even then, you can't make jokes that can be perceived as some sort of -ism to some hypothetical person on the left that could hypothetically be alienated by these jokes.

So, you can make fun of Caitlyn Jenner all you want--but absolutely no trans jokes or even allusions to the fact that he tucks his dicks between his legs. This leads to fascinating discussions online where Person A says they want Caitlyn Jenner to die because she's rich scum and then Person B makes a joke about her big manbody and Person A is allowed to scold Person B. It's truly incredible to see this shit play out.
