How did you feel about troons before they became mainstream?

my only interaction with them was online and I believed what I was being sold because some dudes I knew on this tech forum semi-personally trooned out. I would get mad at misgendering and was a troon respecter.

Then I had to work with 3 of them IRL in college for a job and bets were off when all that transphobe content bore out to be true.

Before the tranny trend hit mainstream, or at the very least before I became aware of it as I am now, the only tranny I recall knowing of was "Laura" K Dale.

"She" would pop on the Co-Optional podcast occasionally, which I watched right up until Totalbiscuit died. That was the extent of my exposure to "her". I can't say I ever saw "her" as a man, but considering how "she" is ugly and British, I can't say I ever saw "her" as a woman either.

i knew trannies existed but didn't care/want to learn more about them

little did i know until 2016 came about

I feel the same as I did before. I don't care what you do to your body or how you choose to live your life. I just resent feeling socially pressured to endorse people's choice of lifestyle. Just because I support your right to do it, doesn't mean I don't reserve the right to think it's retarded.

I just thought they were eccentric weirdos. Never once believed they were women. Red lips have always weirded me out, even on women. Don't know why anyone of either sex would willingly put that crap on their grill.

Like, if you could change your sex down to your soul and DNA, like using console commands in a video game, and nobody would be the wiser, I wouldn't care. But that's not how reality works.

I knew about intersex people and people with actual dysmorphia and I felt sorry for them.

Now I'm TTD.

I think the first tranny I ever saw was Zinnia Jones back in his YouTube Atheist days. I genuinely thought it was just an unfortunate girl who looked kind of uggo.

I saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch on IFC and was like “aww, sad.”

BUT Hedwig cut his dick off to FLEE communism, not in worship of post modern Disney gender theory

Before mainstream I thought they were a bunch of children out playing make believe in public, no strong effect but to laugh.
After mainstream I'm the same except I'm sick of being told I'm wrong if I don't play make believe with the children.

Since college I've been aware of online trends à la Tumblr. Back then otherkin ruled the seas. Now it's troonery, where you get points for identifying as the other gender. I became friends with an MTF around 2017, but didn't think much of it then; it helped that I met them after they took HRT and went by feminine pronouns. After the trans narrative became very mainstream I've started eyeing self-proclaimed trans people with suspicion and wondering if they're doing it for clout.

Mostly apathy and some pity. Assumed the Tumblr kinds were a minority. Turns out they weren't, at least online. Don't have much pity for the ones who aren't just trending thanks to a certain square faced oni.

To PL a bit, I actually worked with one in fast food in the early '00s. They were black, and didn't even come close to passing.
I didn't care, and back then nobody gave a fuck about pronouns.

Back then they were just a faggot weirdos. I mean, they still are, but now they have political power for some reason, so I can't just ignore them and not care anymore.

I always thought of them as filthy braindead degenerates who wasted their years watching porn to the point where they want to be the opposite gender for sexual pleasure. I didn’t expect those freaks to became super mainstream all of a sudden. I always was disgusted by their looks more than anything. They can’t ever be a women (or a man if it’s a biological female)

I didn't really think too much about them years ago, I just saw it as some dumb fetish and didn't think of it as anything more then that.

I thought that they were gross as fuck, like pretty much everyone else, but I didn't give any fuck about them or thought about them at all, like pretty much everyone else

Thought they were either perverts, mentally-ill or both. Never particularly hated them or anything, though. Took a libertarian "live and let live" approach, more apathy than acceptance.

Now that it's become mainstream, I've actually met some IRL, and it's a 50/50 mix. Half are really sad, confused, naive, most likely just gay and effeminate men, and abused women with self-image issues, who are getting socially pressured into a self-inflicted meat-grinder thinking it'll make them happy.

The other half are exactly what you'd expect: Loud, angry, terminally online, overly politicized MtFs who only wants to fuck cis women and femboys/other MtFs, and have no plans of actually getting rid of their dick. These are the ones who actually do all the grooming, and it couldn't be more obvious that they're hedonistic BPD narcissists who are doing so for their own sexual gratification. Very much clearly on some kind of downward spiral in life (some self-aware, others not) and are just taking other people with them.

The first half break my heart, and I feel like are some of the biggest victims of clown world. The other half is the closest I've gotten to actually snapping at someone IRL about something (allegedly) political, because they're obviously just predators.
Roughly the same here.

The first group are genuinely mentally ill people who've been abused by medicine for an experiment of unmatched cruelty. Rather than talking to those people and have them overcome those pathological mental blocks they mutilate them. I'm in the whole medicine story and these are the kind of procedures I absolutely do not approve and would never do to anybody. It's just subhuman or worse.

That second group are classical opportunists: they use the current trend to approach the insane girls who'd rather want to date a troon rather than a man. Serves them right to be honest, they asked for it after all. As for the other, normal women, I stand with them at all times and the whole erosion of femininity and womanhood that's ongoing right now is... Ugly, to say the least.

My opinions were you stay in your corner and I'll stay in mine.

They didn't stay in their corner and invaded my corner and started ruining everything in the corner.

Live and let live does not work when they don't agree to the same agreement.

They wish to become Rome and they want you to believe in their religion as well.

The reality is it's always been gatekeep or be destroyed if you love your hobby never let it go mainstream.

I've always hated them but it used be be funnier. The concept is absurd and they were easy to laugh at. Now they're alot less funny and just purely disgusting. Its hard to find humor as much when they're constantly being pushed in your face and you've seen every other one of them outed as a rapist.
