How do I keep my bath mat from slipping?

I have a bath mat with suction cups at the bottom and it's very nice, but it keeps slipping in the tub no matter how securely I press it down. Please help.

Did you try slightly wetting the suction cups first? Sounds counter productive but I find it sticks better this way oddly enough

Or get anti slip textured "stickers". I have those and they work great on their own instead of using a mat

Usually helps to step down on the mat every time before you enter the shower, to make sure the suction cups stick each time. Bath mat suction cups are shallow and small so you can't trust it to stay adhered for 24 hours.

You might just have gotten a crappy bath mat, though. They're less than $10; people don't usually look for user reviews when buying a bath mat. Did your previous one work better?

These do solve the slipping problem, but can be a pain to clean, especially as they get older.

yeah, it might be because it was cheap. the last one was made of a weird material that, no matter how often i cleaned it, kept getting more and more red/pink inexplicably. i scrubbed the shit out of that thing with almost every cleaning agent i had. it was a weird psuedo-foam mesh that always bunched up at the corners.

Just stop bathing. Problem solved.

Alright well do you have a shower stool? That would be conducive to trying to smoke or drink in there.

Serratia marcescens excretes that pink color. You see it in pet water dishes and water filters, too.

Huh, I've always wondered about those foam mats. I was picturing hair getting stuck, but that sounds bad too.

I just pick up bath mats at Ross or anywhere cheap and haven't really gotten a bad one except when I got fancy and bought a printed one. The ones I get always smell strongly of weed, but like, if robots smoked weed--it's a distinctive bath mat plasticizer smell. It wears off quickly.

A plastic bristle cleaning brush helps a bit with cleaning them

And if you get alphabet stickers you get to spell out racial slurs for guests
I had fish or duck stickers, and they'd start peeling up around the fin or beak (depending), then crack and that part would shear off. This was with rabid cleaning, though.

i do intend on bathing in there
(please note i spent several minutes scouring my phone for a video of this bald-ish crackhead dude loudly singing along to opera with soap in his hair and a cigarette in his mouth)

i didn't actually know about the source of the pink. it really sucks, it gets into everything. the foam mat was fine at first but then just stopped sticking entirely
