How is that the mods find out certain users have passed away? For example, @DykesDykesChina, how was it discovered he had passed away and how? Were the mods contacted by a third party on their passing?

Usually it’s because a poster has some irl connections with another poster.

But others just go silent post and never get found out.

Like already said, there's some connection off-site with users. Usually they will show mods an obit or a FB post referencing the death to verify that that person is actually dead.
