I once lived a very rural lifestyle, and only go to town once or twice a month, and have guests at the cabin even less frequently.
Between hauling water, heating it on a woodstove, to hand bathe in a tub - IN WINTER... it was routine to let up to a week pass between baths (and the last day or two could feel grimy). And even though I'd do my best to scrub up before going to town in my cleanest clothes - I could expect city folks to scrunch their face if they stood too close to me.
Yeah, I felt shame and was aware I was Mr. Stinky. I tried to get in and out of the grocerystore&postoffice as fast as possible.
